Re: Is anyone else from Tx.

I used to live in Sugar Land, a suburb of Houston, Texas, back in 1996-1997, as an exchange student. During that year, I've visited Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. Very nice state, almost like a second home to me!

Wow, Piper, you were practically in my neighborhood. I live about 50 miles from Sugar Land. It is a nice area.

Re: Is anyone else from Tx.

Seems like I'm predestined to live or pass by very close to where other forum members live/work. Happened when I went to Scotland a few years back, I ended up walking IN FRONT of the very store that fixxlevy worked in. Unfortunately, I didn't know him at the time and we didn't get to meet.

Sugar Land is indeed a very nice area. I was in New Territory, which was really different from the places in Brazil. It was actually a bit of a shock to see all those nice houses with their nice gardens and their smooth landscaping and all, just like in the shows ("American Beauty" and "The Wonder Years" come to my mind now...). *melancholy* What a wonderful time 1996-1997 was for me!

Who was it that said, "Texans all think they're better than everyone else, when actually they're just more numerous."?

Re: Is anyone else from Tx.

In basic training, the recruit from Texas was shouted at that the only thing heard of coming out of Texas is steers and queers, and the recruit in question didn't appear to have horns.

BTW, just to be fair, us Californians instead got "the Granola (cereal-bar snack) State": fruits, flakes and nuts.

I'll say no more.
