Dark Side... made them what they are today, and Roger was one of the primary musical forces on Breathe, Money, and Brain Damage. Without Roger, the album would have been a hodge podge of unpalatable instrumentals.

You would definitely like to see them tour again without Roger?

Stupid question but i wont judge you from that. But YES of course they needed Roger. They also needed Dave, Nick, Rick, and Syd. Who wrote 90% of the songs after Syd? Roger....

Roger is essential so why don' t they tour with Roger, Nick, and Wright?
It's not that crazy an idea.

i am tired about hearing about waters all the time he is a great lyricist i give him that but a mediocre bassist......they did there best work pre darkside of the moon in my opinion....when they were working as a BAND not a one man show...his importance to me is 4 out of 10.....plus waters got his lyric tecnique from syd barrett who is pink floyd IMO

You know what I love about this thread? That somehow it has managed to last several months with nearly complete agreement on all sides but yet it still keeps going and people still feel the need to rehash the first response. Some more than once. Man, I should do my term paper on the social interactions in this site. A+++

Re: Did the Band need roger waters

No, but they would be a totally different band.

Roger makes the Pink Floyd deepness and uniqness.

David would probably make a band that sounded like his solo albums and post Waters era.

Re: Did the Band need roger waters

i say every single one from the 5 members are equally important. without any of them it wouldnt be the GREAT pink floyd we all like and i guess thats why all of us are memebers of this community, so lets not argue and accept that we all LOVE the band!

Re: Did the Band need roger waters

Its all in what your own opinion is. I personally believe that no matter how you look at Roger, he was a genius musically. The wall is an incredible album. That was really Pink Floyd's last GREAT album. I like all their stuff don't get me wrong, but I don't blame the guy for leaving when if your well read because of David. After Roger left Pink Floyd as we know it went on a very slow but steady decline from that point on, but thats just my opionion, let me know how you feel.
