Of course they needed him. They wouldn't have been who they were if it weren't for Roger. They needed every single member in that band. It was all part of the big picture that is Pink Floyd. Even Syd's short-lived leadership of the band was very important. What kind of silly question is that?

Of course Roger was needed ... it wouldn't have been the same without him ...

however, I believe, Dave was an equally impressive artist ... I think he left a signature mark and added several, unforgettable, contributions to the band ...

the only thing constant is change ... the band changed in many ways, obviously including members, but remained one of the best of all times

I personally think that when Pink Floyd was in its height (Dark Side-Final Cut) Roger Waters was the leader of that band. I personally don't think anything they have done after Roger left is any good, but thats just me. So i would definately (?) give him at least a 10/10.

The Band did not need Roger, The Band had Richard Manuel, Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko and Gareth Hudson... they were in very good hands......

Now Pink Floyd.. They needed Roger..

(I know, I'm a smartass).
