[The dude started out with asking about Arabs with Knives and here we are discussing about dreams !!] But the whole album and story is but a dream!! I am an admirer of Pros and Cons as well; Clapton's playing adds to the specialness.

'Pros And Cons...' is outstanding. I just wish Dave played on it.

There's gratitude for ya. Roger replaces David as guitarist with not some unknown upstart, not even Snowy White, but with a Rock legend in his own right, but STILL diehard PF fans will have none of it. No pleasing some people. ![]() "That's exactly what Jesus said." - Monty Python, Life of Brian

Yes, well, this is the first time I've read this thread. I was ALMOST going to start my own before I saw this hiding all the way down the bottom. Anyway, I've only pulled Pros and Cons off the shelf again in the last couple of days, and remembered that (apart from the fact that he is dreaming part / all of it) I have no idea what the f***ing story line is. Since the last time I listened to it I have met all you fine folks on here, so does someone want to tell me what the story-line is? Has Roger ever elaborated on it like he has The Wall (I've never read anything). I guess with The Wall we had the priviledge of the movie to explain a lot of the more obscure songs for us...but this album has some songs that I can't figure out really ("every stranger's eyes" for eg...what the dickins does that have to do with the rest of the plot / dream???). Sorry my question was so long...it's been buggin' me heaps!

The actual meaning of Arabs with Knives at the foot of the bed is the dreamers guilt for having sexual desire for someone other than his wife. Knives have always been used by Waters as a symbol not just the actual killing weapon itself. The dreamer sees his dick as a weapon to harm his wife. OH, my God how did they get in here? I thought we were safe home in England. By not being safe he is saying that his relationship with his wife is "not at home" or foreign. His relationship with his wife is in unchartered territory. HAVE YOU GOT IT YET?-SYD

You're all wrong. Arabs with knives = assasins Assasins = eaters of hashish So basically Rog was having a nightmare that someone was half-inching his stash....happens to me all the time.
