Did I make a mistake??

The other day I was at my local record store and I decided to buy a Pink Floyd CD that I didn't have. The choice came down to either Animals or The Final Cut. In the end I chose Animals but did I make a mistake? I do love all the songs on Animals, especially "Dogs" but how is the Final Cut? Is it similar to the Wall? I heard from someone that it was, in a way, the "sequel" to the Wall. But I don't think that's right. Is it similar to the way Waters was writing around the time of the Wall? I am a fan of that era and I was hoping that I didn't make a mistake.... so tell me... in your opinion, what's better? Animals or The Final Cut?

Forget buying the Final Cut.
You certainly didn't make a mistake, Animals is an essential.

No, Obscured By Clouds should be bought long before The Final Cut...IMO.

OBC is essential.

Ditto. OBC is one of the unappreciated classics; TFC is... Not my favorite.

I'd have to say I disagree with that; I like TFC more than OBC.

However, Animals is their very best in my opinion... so no mistake there.

Animals is a great album, good choice. I'm not a huge fan of Roger.

Re: Did I make a mistake??

Yeah, Animals was definatly the better of the two choices. One of their finest for sure! Actually, Animals is the first of the "Waters-Era." I really like it...you can really tell that it's a blend of the sound of WYWH and TW (oops, acronyms!).

Don't get me wrong...TFC is good (and underrated in my opinion), but it's one of those albums you wait to get till the only holes in your Floyd collection are SOS, Umma, and AMLoR (darn!).
