Re: The reasons of the absence of mother and run like hell

Why "mother" and "run like hell" are not on the Echoes: best of??? Is it because of the events in the US and the interdiction of these songs on the US radio??? Maybe it is to avoid a censorship on the US territory? I don't know ... I'm just asking. Well, it must exist a good reason for that: I was expecting to see both of them on the best of.

No, i think it has entirely to do with the fact that they just wanted other songs on it. "the wall' and 'dark side' both have 4 songs on "echoes' and they probably didn't want to exceed that for one album. Although why in the hell they could only spare to put "sheep" from animals on it is beyond me. how sad.

I was kind of surprised that Dogs wasn't chosen, myself.

whats wrong with sheep? and why is it sad? why does your opinion count more than theirs? shouldn't they be able to pick what songs they want? i mean they are their songs. dogs is good. but they probably would have had to edit it.

Re: The reasons of the absence of mother and run like hell

I find the idea of Best Of's quite ridiculous. I know in the world of show-bizz we can't avoid it, but still...
Anyway lemme tell you my opinion on Echoes - it MUST be at least 3 CDs, prolly even 4 CDs.
That's why I didn't buy it LOL
Btw, the other day I tried to compile The Best Of Dave Gilmour (for my friend, with the songs from PF and solo albums), and I came up with full 90 mins tape and at least 6 more songs I wanted to include !

Reguarding Mother and Run Like Hell. Two words, over played. They are great songs, but they are over played.

Re: The reasons of the absence of mother and run like hell

Unfortunately there's just not enough space on two disks to put on everything that should be there: Mother, Run Like Hell, Brain Damage/Eclipse, Breathe, A Saucerful Of Secrets, Interstellar Overdrive and Fat Old Sun... I'm sure there are others you all like to have on. As far as sheep goes, that one made it onto Dance Songs, why not Echoes? IMO it's the more agressive of the two, less likely to bore new listeners, to whom this best of album was aimed.

Um, Another Brick In The Wall and Money are what we in the record buisness call "Big Hits". They were released as singles if you do recall.
