| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Summer '68...ah, how I enjoy that song. Have you ever noticed how easy it is and how good it sounds when you make up harmony parts to Mr. Wright's songs? (As long as you have the ability to know if you're singing on key.)

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? I was just joking about that TFC thing. Of course I like Wright, his contribution to Dark Side was just as important as the lyrics and guitar playing. And I truly do believe that the Wall would have been a lot better if everyone in the band was allowed to collaborate rather than just Rog and Dave with a little help from their freinds. Floyd is not made up of especially great musicians, but rather four spectacular composers. Wright being one of them.

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? I like Wright! And I like Summer of '68 as well. Richard is very much hard-done-by, very much overlooked, but as NNJohn says, without him the rest of Pink Floyd operate without an integral, almost crucial, part. Floyd on! Byron

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? You know what? I'm probably going to be marked as a freak for saying this, but...I LIKE "SEE-SAW". Yes, you read that correctly. Supposedly the most boring song in the world...I don't think it's BORING. Of course, it's supposed to have this lazy, dreamy, floating-down-the-river kind of feel to it, kind of like the mood of some of his solo work in Wet Dream. Is there anyone else who feels this way about that song, or am I the only one?

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? I view Floyd as a band that produced the most awesome lyrics and musically I regard them as a guitar band. David Gilmour has a "sound", one can identify him in anything he does. To me, the keyboard and drum parts in Floyd could have been played by any competent musician. What I mean is that Richard and Nick don't seem to have their own style/sound. I'm not denying their contribution to the band but just wonder if their importance is not being overstated here. |

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Does Mr. Wright have his own sound? I think so. It is a very subtle sound, which "weaves" in and out of the various nuances of the other band members, drawing them together in the background. It is often surreal, and I think the best example of this otherworldly but understated sound is Broken China, where you can, in effect, get rid of all of the foreground distractions (not to demean any other band members--I don't mean it that way!) and hear it by itself. Another note about Mr. Wright--I've also noticed that his sense of beat is often not your standard ONE-two-three-four etc. type beat, things that would never occur to me, but sound excellent! In other words, he seems to do a lot more work with rhythms and textures than, for instance, Mr. Gilmour's solo albums do. As for Mr. Mason's style, despite his being the drummer, as I said, I think some (but only a part, of course) of the unique rhythms are actually coming from somewhere else. NM's the one I have difficulty with. In the early albums, he's very, very distinct...but I lose that sound after DSotM. Others may be able to hear it, but after that, I cannot distinguish him from any other drummer.

Again, it's me. I also like See-Saw and most, if not all, the same era of Floyd stuff, plus a heck of a lot more.

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? FloydWaters, You'll find many like-minded folk on these boards. Most of us freaks of some order or another. My "tag" comes from the strange, low-down blues track "Maisie" off Syd's eponymous solo album: BARRETT. (Link: http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/barlyric.php#masie) or "Maisie, Maisie, Maisie, Maisie... bad luck, bride of a bull strode out to meet Maisie in the evening light Maisie, his illuminous grin put her in a spin Maisie, lay in the hall (BoaB: I think it's "hole") with diamonds and emeralds Maisie, Maisie... bad luck - the bride of a bull... Maisie!" Floyd on! Byron p.s. to fixxy: I've been here all along, mate. Just not had much of value to add. BTW, don't you just love Richard Wright's music? ![]()

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Since this is Mr. Wright's home thread for the moment, I have a question to ask. Has anyone successfully got an autograph from Mr. Wright by post (as opposed to in person)? If so, how did you do it?

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? BoaB-- I never answered you about your ID. Thanks for letting me know. I have not really listened to Mr. Barrett's solo works...guess it haunts me too much. I'm not denying that it may be very good--it probably is. It just creeps me out too much.
