| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? I have a couple of questions about the song "Stay." Since this is one of Mr. Wright's songs (I consider it one--he is listed first), I decided to put them in his "home thread." First, I address this question to someone more technically knowledgeable about the keyboards/piano than I am. Is it me, or is there something a little...off...about the key of that song? I was playing this song along with a CD recording of the song, and it sounded as if they were out of phase with each other by a matter of semitones. I did check to see that my piano was in tune--it worked fine with "Summer '68" (another song I'm working on right now). What happened? Is there a way to intentionally detune a piano? Or was that a keyboard of some sort that he adjusted the tuning on? (I ask because my keyboard allows me to subtly alter the tuning by increments of semitones.) Since I understand that he actually tuned the Mr. Waters' bass guitar for him, I would think that Mr. Wright would not have done something like that unintentionally. What do you think his reason would be? Also...do you think he wrote the lyrics? I notice that Mr. Waters is credited SECOND, which seems unusual to me--unless he did NOT write the lyrics. Somehow, the "feeling" I get from the lyrics matches with my idea (judging from interviews, other lyrics of his, etc.) of what Mr. Wright is like. The "character" in these lyrics seems to me as if he would be not at all harsh or demanding ("And if you don't mind..."), perhaps a bit shy (he's got to struggle "to find the words..."). I don't know what it is...it just doesn't seem like Mr. Waters' personality at work in those lyrics.

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Come on--I'm sure there are fans of Mr. Wright out there! Let's treat this like a survey: if he's your favourite Floydian, PLEASE take this opportunity to say so! Even if he's not your favourite, but you truly enjoy his work (especially his solos), please respond. I pose this question because I would like to prove that Mr. Wright deserves his own forum--that he has many fans of his solo work, who would love a place all to themselves to discuss it! (Of course, I don't mean to say that Mr. Mason doesn't! I just haven't heard his solo work yet.)

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Do you have a Barnes and Noble in your area? They'll order it for you. So will amazon.com...most places can order it; that's not the difficult album to find.

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Rick is a great bloke. Great singing voice, very talented musician. As for your questions regarding "Stay", I have no clue. But I wouldn't put anything past those guys.

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? OK, I finally got around to replying to this thread. Rick is my favorite PF member, probably because I play the piano/ keyboard in my spare time. He was definitely a key contributor to the Pink Floyd sound; I especially like "Great Gig in the Sky". It's too bad he was forced out of the group, but when he came back, he gave us the gem that is "Wearing the Inside Out". I haven't heard any of his solo material, but I heard he's coming out with a new album soon. I'll have to check that out.

And yes...he IS a key part of the PF sound. I wish the breakup hadn't been so painful... ![]() <<I haven't heard any of his solo material, but I heard he's coming out with a new album soon. His solo work is an absolute jewel! Be sure to get Broken China!!! That is one of THE most emotionally powerful I have ever heard--heartbreaking and heartening all at once. And you'll also like Wet Dream (no, I'm NOT kidding--that IS the title!) for a bit more of a "holiday" or "getaway" of sorts...very mellow and relaxing.

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Richard Wright is a great musician and contribution to Pink Floyd. Remember a Day is one of my favorite early tracks. Beautiful lyrics, moving music, and Rick really does have a very nice voice. While not my favorite member, Rick Wright is a very important member of Pink Floyd, but then again, who isn't?

| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Don't be so sure... Trust me. Being the fan of who I am a fan of, I know better than to discount someone. I am, by the way, looking for better information for my website on Mr. Mason... ...but now we are off-topic of who this thread was supposed to be for!
