Gilmour :: Acoustic + electric

I was wondering, for songs such as Mother, where there is acoustic section and an electric guitar solo, how did Gilmour play these when the band performed The Wall live? Would he switch guitars, or would someone else be playing acoustic?

Someone else would be playing acoustic. Snowy White often filled this position on the Animals tour, and part of the surrogate band would play the acoustic during The Wall.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Waters played acoustic on Mother during the live shows?

You are correct, sir. Now that I think about it, he played the acoustic on Pigs on the Wing live as well...

If Waters played acoustic, who would play bass?

Either Snowy White (Animals tour) or a member of the surrogate band (The Wall live).
