That's a tough one. I'll have to give it some deep thought.

Do we really need a poll on this? We all know the answer is Nick Mason! Anyone else notice this thread is under the "waters domination" forum section...This poll is fixed!!! I'm just made a phone call to some people down in Dade County Florida and they are going to tally up the votes to make sure the poll isn't "misleading" Last edited by Riv; 04-06-2004 at 07:46 PM.

It's hard to say. It depends on what kind of writing style speaks to you the most. A lot of Roger's stuff is pretty pessimistic. If that floats your boat, then Roger is better. And vice versa.

I think Roger had quite a few not-so-great lyrical endeavors ("Welcome To The Machine"'s irritating jaguar, guitar, steak bar rhyme, a few iffy lines from the Wall) but overall, he's just more insightful. He makes you look for more than Dave's lyrics do. Dave is indeed more positive, but I like either side of the spectrum. So, I'll have to hand it to Roger for lyrics, even though if I had to choose, I'm a fan of Dave's and not Roger's.

Dave doesn't even write most of his own stuff anymore...the last 2 Pink Floyd albums are mostly co-written with professional song writers aiding Dave along the way. Dave was a great musician but lyrics were always his weakness...he had a few moments of brief brilliance like Childhoods End but overall his lyrics were average at best.

Roger, definately. Just look at The Final Cut.

When it comes to lyrics, I'd say Roger. David wins in almost everything else though.

Waters (Waters is in my top 5 fav lyricsts, whereas Gilmour is a pretty poor lyricist...) Waters is also a better songwriter, but I prefer Gilmour as a performer.
