Grunge

I looked around, didn't find it.

What do you guys think of the 90's Seattle grunge movement? I've really been getting into these bands lately. Here are some albums I recommend. Pearl Jam - Ten, Alice in Chains - Dirt, Soundgarden - Superunknown, and of course, Nirvana - Nevermind.

Yeah true but alot of punkers wrote "Punk Rock" on their fists and stuff like that, but you never see any "grunger" writing it everywhere lol. Smashing Pumpkins are great, its a shame they broke up, for the better though i guess.

Digging 'grunge' was a largely nessecary (sic.!) step of my appreciation of music. Grunge was the first style of music I ever really got into and I still dig it.

Nirvana actually considered themselves to be punk. And as for punk-folk not liking the term, mayhap you haven't heard of The Business (esp. 'Loud Proud 'N' Punk').

Early on, that is. Their first album isn't as much punk as somewhat metal-ish.

Kurt gave up trying to be punk around Nevermind, and starting writing songs that were more pop-structured.

I really like Nirvana, and I've always been a huge fan of Alice in Chains. If anyone here likes AIC, I urge you to give Jerry Cantrell's Degradation Trip a listen.

I have the double CD of that album tower of faith. It's pretty cool my favorite songs off that cd would probably be. Feel the Void, Castaway, She Was My Girl, and 31-32.

I liked most of those bands.. although I really never got into Nirvana..

I really like Soundgarden (Spoonman is a fave).

Temple of the Dog ~Hunger Strike~ is very cool.

The Smashing Pumpkins really never considered themselves Grunge, they always prefered the "Alternative" label, they were a Chicago band and wanted to seperate themselves from the Seattle scene. I remember seeing them and Liz Phair together before anybody knew who either of them were.

Riv, that's awesome. You're probably the only other person on the planet that thinks "Feel The Void" is one of the better songs on there.

Most off all i like Pearl Jam. themes as I Wish knocks me down. And they do a nice thing: one tour: different countries: different concerts: different recorded cds. Just great.
