Re: What a night!

Good on ya, Simon. I'll echo the stand you took is worthy, always when successful, but the consequences of a situation going bad are present. Good you came out well. I liked your "unintelligible gibberish" to put them off; like my advice to visitors to America: in tense moments behave as insanely as possible.

Always works for me and I have luckily never been mugged. <knocks-wood>

I say make a stand. Kick their butts. Whup a-hurtin'.

After all, I reasoned it to myself, that getting into life-threatening situations aren't worth it for a few bucks. The stuff in my wallet is insured anyway...

But when it DID happen to me, I have NO idea why I did what I just did. It wasn't like I planned it out or anything. I felt nothing, no pain, no fear, no anger. Nothing. It was like I was on full-auto mode or something.

I didn't have much on me. No cash and just three credit cards that would have been blocked within 5 minutes of me reaching home and my cell phone, which would have been replaced free of charge. The only thing I lost was $2.50 worth of beer.

Weird.

Your reasoning is totally logical. Why risk your life for a pittance?

However, your sense of self-dignity took over in the face of a moral outrage.

Glad you're OK and that you taught the jerk a lesson. If I were you I wouldn't have stopped until the asshole was 3/4 dead.
But, I guess it's a good thing you let up, otherwise, the taxpayers would likely have had to foot the massive hospital bill.

That sure is a far out tale, Simon. Incidentally, how's your brother?

Re: What a night!

Thanks guys. I don't know why I started and I don't know why/how I stopped. Now that I think about it, I don't know why I wrapped his arm though

Fixx : I don't know man. He's very moody and doesn't talk much. He's too quiet these days and occassionaly lets out in bursts of insane anger. I think sitting at home a cripple is starting to eat him from inside. Mother's worried about him. I'll know better when I go home. Thanks for asking.

Re: What a night!

That's so damn sad.

Si, maybe you could invite him to return to APFFN. Maybe it would elevate his spirits. I'm sure the old-timers here would love to talk to him again.

Re: What a night!

I need to get him to get out and out of home and the house and to make him move around more.

Personally, I think he ought to stop hurting Sara and talk to her. Mother said that she still comes by to visit but they hardly talk. She ends up spending time with Mother before going home disappointed. She might be the one thing to turn it around for him and I'm so very happy that she's still around...

Re: What a night!

I stood up to an asshole i know a while back.
He gets his kicks from taking the piss out of people not as popular as him (typical bully). He decided to take the piss out of me for a few months. We were friends before, but he just turned on me one day started saying spitefull things about me. I chose to overlook it then... But after a while i'd had enough. He walked past me and we locked eyes (I was sitting down at the time in an art exam) he said trying to sound hard "wot" i stood up, saw red I dont remember what I said to him but I can tell you he was terrified. After that episode he rang me the other day tried to put the blame on someone else he thought I was going to kill him because apparently I had said it then it hit me they're all just cowards. All you have to do is stand up look em in the eye and stand up for yourself.
Ill keep you posted on what he does next.

The second time, I fought back. I got a pretty nasty cut on my left arm, but he ended up with a broken knee, a dislocated shoulder and a concussion... I was pissed. Guess I took out on him what I felt from the first time.

Anyway, glad your OK.
