'Dogs' on Roger's 'In the Flesh 2000' dvd. DBII and White together during the bridge, totally outstanding reproduction of Gilmour's original double track. The highlight of the show in guitar terms. Outstanding.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

Doyle is incredible. I saw him this past summer when he was touring in Clapton's band. They traded solos like it was nothing. Can you imagine the pressure of being up there with Slowhand and constantly being compared with him?

You've got to be pretty eff'n ballsy to do shows every night next to Clapton.

I doubt it... they don't know about me

I didn't mean to sound contemptuous in my previous post, I respect the guy as much as I respect every good guitarist...

But comparing him to Clapton... come on

In my opinion a guitarist should be respected for his skills for composition and thought in his playing rather than for his technical achievements (in terms of guitar playing of course)... In that respect - I've heard Bramhall play only the work of other guitarists.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

But he is also a major-label recording artist who composes and performs his own songs for a living.

Are you?

No, I'm not and I'm happy for that.
And the fact that he is a 'major-label recording artist' doesn't mean anything to me, it might even mean a bad thing. There are so many guitarists and musicians in general who are not major-label artists and who are much better IMHO than Bramhall.

I'll stop here with the negative words for Bramhall and say that I respect that he is relatively young and still a somewhat popular guitarist, something that's becoming rarer by the day...

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

Doyle is a very accomplished guitarist, and a listenable singer and like him for that, but on the "ITF" DVD, you could tell Snowy had already proven himself, so he let Doyle do most of the work only coming in when he needed with a heavier sounding guitar.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I really dig Snowy's solo during "Set the Controls" on the DVD. The CD version, not so much.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I think Doyle is an awesome guitarist, but what really eeks me, but boggles my mind is that he plays the guitar left handed but has it strung like a righty. It just boggles my mind.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I wasn't a big fan of Doyle's solos, they were ok but where Gilmour would let a note hang he felt the need to quickly jump to something else, though I didn't find anything particularly wrong with his singing. Now Snowy White he was amazing his solos are easily the highlightss of ITF and are far and few between . I was also impressed by John Carin he does multiple jobs all to a high standard.
