Re: Division Bell

TDB is the great. One of my favorite. Not as good as The Wall or Animals? Umh, mayby. But after listening TW the only thing I want is to lie down and die. And TDB always brings me a good mood... I just like it

Lucifer Sam. As far as I know, Mrs. Samson said that the first verse of Poles Apart is about Syd and the second is about Rog. Pryvit z Ukrainy

Re: Division Bell

My 50 cents: I really enjoy TDB except for "Take it Back". Call me crazy, but i find this song really annoying. Otherwise, its a great "fireplace" album!

I love "What do you want from me". I think to my self, "Not Now John is to Young Lust as WDYWFM is to Money." I think it has the same exciting bass line in it. I'll probably continue with this post but school just ended.

Re: Division Bell

The instramentals are beautiful.

Poles Apart- All I have to say is, "du du du du du du, du du du du du du du du du du" is great.

Coming back to life is probably the best guitar work on the album.

I didn't like Keep Talking at first, but it grew on me and now I think its one of the best on the album.

High Hopes, IMO, is the best song on the album. When I first got the album, I wasn't expecting there to be a good chorus on the whole cd. But they suprised me on this track!

Re: Division Bell

It is indeed a great album for the fireplace.

Make of that what you will.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Division Bell

It would be a fireplace album if it sounded a bit more like oh, we'll say, Radio Kaos.
Was that supposed to be some kind of sick dance music on Radio Waves?

Re: Division Bell

Let me start out by saying the DB is one of my favorite floyd albums

Cluster one- song is alright does not do it for me though

WDYWFM- I really like this song upbeat, really pleasant song

Poles Apart- worst song on the album one of my least favorite floyd songs. Its absolutely terrible!

Marooned- my favorite song on the album. Very emotional song. One of my all-time favorite floyd songs.

Great Day for Freedom- this song is alright

Wearing the inside out- I love this song, Mr. Wright does a fantastic job with this tune to Richard!

Take it Back- Alright to bad, 2nd least favorite song on the DB

Coming Back to Life- A very, very pretty song excellent guitar work decent lyrics I really enjoy this song.

Keep Talking- I like it pretty well even though I find a lot of people dislike it a little. I like the guitar and keyboard stuff the best.

Lost for Words- Great song. Very good lyrics, best on the album.

High Hopes- Another song I really like on the DB. Good lyrics, good guitar work, A+.

Re: Division Bell

why, just because it didnt have Roger's name in the credits?

it was better then The Final Cut. thats all I have to say. Gilmour sounds better on TDB then Waters on ATD. I think they put some work into it and it showed. I like it.

Re: Division Bell

Radio KAOS has its merits, too. Particularly the whole set from "Home" to the end of the album.

As for the "sick dance music"...somehow I think Mr. Waters is intentionally making a mockery of what you'd commonly hear on the radio in the 80's. I actually get a kick out of it.

And, of course, TDB is one of my all-time five favourite Floydian albums (that includes solos).

(The five in chronological order of release: Meddle, TFC, ATD, TDB, Broken China.)

Re: Division Bell

Well, I/m doing me little review. TDB is not one of my favorite albums at all

Cluster One - great intro

WDYWFM - Horrible! I hated it from the first time!

Poles Apart - Really good

Marooned - some of the best guitar playing!

AGDFF - hmm... allright

Wearing The Inside Out - I first thought it was REALLY boring, but now I love it

Take It Back/Coming Back To Life - A little comercial, but ok

Keep Talking - Hate it

Lost For Words - has never interesed me

High Hopes - SUPERBE!!! The best song on the album, one of my favorite songs ever.

Anyway, I think it's much better than AMLOR!

to everyone!

Re: Division Bell

and surely better than TFC...
we can go on about it forever ! LOL
i don't quite understand how someone happens not to like Keep Talking...such a great thing..."my words won't come out right...i feel like i'm drowning..." - that exactly how i feel sometimes ! "i'm feeling weak now...but i can't show my weaknes"...fantastic.
but tastes differ innit
