| Re: Division Bell So, everybody seems to be sure it's wonderful musically . Maybe it lacks from a lyrical point of view, but the music is out of discussion. Uhm... I don't know if the lyrics are bad or good (and I don't care at all), but those songs are so obvious, simple and repetitive. And the "sublime" and "great" and "incredible" chorus on High Hopes is nothing but the same 5 notes repeated without changing anything. Every time I listen to it, I would ask "dear Dave, are you going to change that damned chord or will you insist on it until death?" "The grass was greener" "The light was brighter" "The taste was sweater".... Yes... "And nothing changed" (sang on the famous 5 notes). Great fantasy, uh? The same thing for Keep Talking, even worst. Of course they're still good musicians, able to cover the so-called song with all those beatiful guitar and keyboards sounds. But you can cover the nothing with whatever you want, it remains always nothing. "Forever and ever"... (same 5 notes, again!) Then, if everybody enjoy it, maybe the "unchanging cry" is really great and sublime. But surely it's not what they use to be. |

| Re: Division Bell I would say that AMLoR(not TDB) is musically inclined sinse the Wall. I think Animals is the "musical" peak of Pink Floyd's discography. Same goes for the wall. I just love those killer solos in Dogs and Pigs. And I can't get enough of those riffs like In The Flesh[?], GoodBye Blue Sky, and Young Lust. _________________ ------------------0--- -------6-------------- ------------0--------- ---8--------hehe---- ---------------------- ----------------------

| Re: Division Bell Atom Heart Beef...Pink Floyd have done that "same five notes" thing in some of their classics too: Dogs: Who was blah blah blah, Who was blah blah blah Who was blah blah blah Dark Side: All that you Blah, and all that you blah, all that you blah, and all you blah. Repetition can be powerful. Some of the most powerful speaches of all time use repetition: "I have a dream" Luther King. "we will fight them on the beaches" Churchill "just thought you'd like to know"

| Re: Division Bell In fact in most of the songs that they use repetition it ends in a rather great climax. What a good word...climax...I might just ponder that for a while ![]()

| Re: Division Bell It can mean a few things. Generally a memorable ending to some kind of build up. You might have heard one occurring in your parents bed room ![]()
