Re: Bob Close

...as spelled in 'ASFOS'(the book). I thought i'd make a topic on him in this section. According to the book Close "an accomplished jazz guitarist" joined "Roger's band" at around the same time as Syd.
"When Syd joined up, he very quickly clashed with the incorigibly square Close, who failed to share the experimentally minded art student's fascination with guitar feedback and echo boxes....... Bob bailed out-leaving Syd, almost by default, fronting the group." -Nicholas Schaffner (ASFOS).

An interesting thought if Close ended up being the lead guitarist and possibly group frontman. We probably would have ended up with a very different and quite boring floyd (with a different name of course). Then again Roger probably would eventually assume control anyway.

Re: Bob Close

I think that Klose (or Close) wanted to call the band "The Tea Set" or something like that. Don't know for sure.

Take is easy there Axe. We don't want to start another true fan thing again. Although I did find it quite amusing.

Re: Bob Close

In case anyboby is wondering, if you really want to hear Bob Klose play guitar, he plays lead on 'Lucy Leave' and 'King Bee'. He's good, a jazz guitarist. You can tell why he and Syd didn't get along. There styles are completely opposite.
