Should Roger have left more vocals to Dave?

Since Syd left, I mean.

Roger is universally acknowledged as the better songwriter between the two, but Dave is virtually always considered the better singer. Granted, there are a few songs ('Comfortably Numb' verses come to mind) that Roger was better suited to sing, but in general, should he have stuck to songwriting and let Dave sing most vocals?

Examples of Roger tracks Dave might have been able to sing better:

'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' (WYWH)
The few tracks on 'Dark Side' Roger sings on
Most of 'Animals'

I think Gilmour's vocals are so warm and Waters'vocals are so cold!Could you imagine "Wish You Were Here" with Roger's voice? If not, then listen the version from "In The Flesh".Sadly,It's totally bad.."Animals" is an album with cold atmosphere and Waters performs good with his ironic and paranoic style.I believe,Barrett was more paranoic than Waters.Could you imagine some PF paranoic songs with Syd's voice??

Roger voice goes much higer than Dave's so he sang all high notes. I like his singing on Biding My time, Set the controls, Grantchester Meadows, Animals. I also like his singing better on 'Have A cigar' than Roy Harper.

Yeah, I've sometimes thought that myself. But as dimikor put it...they do have different "feelings" in thier voices, if you will, warm and cold. I think the best instances of their playing off their qualities is "The Thin Ice" and "Dogs."

Also, on a side note: "If" is an example of one of the few times when Roger actually seemed "warm."

Interesting responses, yeah, I guess Roger's voice is better suited for some of the parts he sang...

Did Dave ever sing 'Have a Cigar' live or was it just Roger?

I've always liked Rick and Dave's voices. However roger does seem appropriate for some situations. Perhaps when the vocals need a touch of dementia or desperation.

I thought he sounded rather warm on Careful with that Axe. Those warm, fuzzy, heart-felt screams of bloody murder.

Dave is a great singer he has a really nice tone to his voice. Roger is the almost insane sounding singer. Like the other post stated Dave is good for some songs and Roger is good for other types of feelings.

Rogers voice is very unique in that it has a quality of urgency and of some one whose just not there...I dig it.

My 2 cents.

Sure, maybe those songs sung by Roger originally could sound better if David had sung them, but guess what...?
