Re: Why is Roger so bitter towards Dave?

I also came to the conclusion that AMLOR is actually better than TDB.

AMLOR better than TDB? I think that is crazy! TDB is one of the better albums the Floyd has done. AMLOR has its moments, but I find it hard to listen to the whole thing through.

Re: Why is Roger so bitter towards Dave?

It's so funny that Gimour seems like the bitter one now, while Waters seems to be attempting to be friendly. I don't blame Dave; you gotta retain some pride.

But imagine all the time they wasted, and are wasting, being pissed at each other. *sigh* It makes me sad, because listening to their classic albums, I can believe that they're above petty things like that and that they hold a very idealistic view of how the world should be.

What is Dave doing exactly that seems bitter? I mean, they both have taken many shots at eachother in interviews.... I don't see how Dave seems bitter.... Enlighten me cause I wanna know!!!

Re: Why is Roger so bitter towards Dave?

Oh, I wasn't referring to anything specific. Just the general attitude difference between them in recent interviews -- Roger is saying that he would consider getting back together with the band, and making hopes soar with words like "maybe," while Dave almost immediately responds with "No way -- it will never happen."

Re: Why is Roger so bitter towards Dave?

Well, think of it like this: B.D.G. finally has some momentum behind his solo career again, after a long time away. He's about to release some new music and embark on a large tour. This is exactly the same reason Roger opposed Pink Floyd's reformation in 1987 - it interfered with his ability to successfully pull off a solo project.

An amusing reversal of fortunes, to be sure.

Perhaps but this says nothing about who he is as a person.

As a person?? Roger turned into an ego-maniac. Though I do see Rog's point on certain things, his attitude during the Final Cut sessions would not be acceptable to me, and i am a professional musician, so I know how egos can be.

As a person? He sold a VERY expensive home and donated all the proceeds to charity. He pledged all his extra royalties due to the Live 8 performance to charity.

Wow, what a jerk!!!!!

If he wants to concentrate on his solo record, let him. He deserves to make his own decisions about his career...

Anyway we are talking as if we usually went with them to the pub in the corner... One thing is their public "personae" and the other is how they really are and I'm afraid that we can only make guesses.

Or reinforce biases, in Jeffaz02t's case.

Biases? I am a HUGE Waters fan. The Final Cut is in my top 3 albums.... I do like Dave a lot cause I am a professional guiutarist, but I know that Roger was the main force behind the 'classic' Floyd era. I just do not understand how you can call Dave a twit. If you notice, I never call Roger names on my posts, and if you would have called Roger a twit I would have had the same reaction.
