| See Emily Play It is strange how different the groups sounds from 68 to well The Wall. They sound like harder rock in their later years.

| Re: See Emily Play They probably wouldn't have lasted if they hadn't changed their sound. Their ability to alter their sound to adapt to the times is a big reason why they lasted so long. I doubt many people would want to hear their 20 minute "sonic explorations" in the 70s. |

| Early songs and psychedelic ramblings I agree that there songs and lyrics had to change with the times. While some of the songs during Syd's time were great, others were only suitable for the psychedelic experience. In spite of trying to get into the early stuff, I have to say that I do prefer the latter day vocals and lyrics. They are much more soothing and make more sense to me than the early PF.

| Re: See Emily Play I think that Pink Floyd had the best debut album of any other group in the 60s. Besides Zappa, maybe.... |

mostly because of syd's leave, he didn't like to use many effects in their songs |

| Re: See Emily Play I really like See Emily Play and songs like that...I love them because thats how Floyd was in the 60s, and Piper and Saucerful of Secrets are amazing albums....and the fact that they could change thier sound in mere years (Dark Side, etc), is bloody amazing, and that's why they're the best!

| Re: See Emily Play Quote:
No offense, but what utter bollocks! Pink Floyd were musicians with lives and experiences; they were playing music. Syd at first, then Richard, Roger and others later on were composing songs and music using whatever inspiration their personal lives and experiences afforded them. So, okay, they were able enough musicians to convince record companies of their potential, but I very much doubt they deliberately adapted their music to the changing world around them. As with all things, change occurs, Syd left. Richard and Roger, then Roger alone seemed to control the way their music went. Roger ousted Richard but then Roger left and David took control. David and Nick & Co pretended Pink Floyd and Richard returned. Change is a wonderful thing. p.s. fecal thread, this.
