Re: placebo PF sample?

The band Placebo’s most recent CD (Black Market Music) starts of with, what sounds exactly like, the beginning of Saucer full of Secrets, Let there be More Light. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this track?

Perhaps, perhaps not, I've heard others that are just as enjoyable.

Re: placebo PF sample?

Mmmm... I don't really get what's meant to be so exciting about Placebo... they're only a bunch of noisy glam/goth brit kids who never really managed to record anything new, only some lame imitations of glam rock epics à la T-Rex or post punk/New-Wavish tracks in the style of Pornography's Cure... and all this without the bass (one of the fundamental rock instruments)!!!

Oh, BTW, as we're talking about PF covers like Bowie's version of "See Emily Play" and I just happened to mention the Cure, let me add that The Cure themselves are said to have performed a cover of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" during reharsals for the concert in the ancient roman theatre of Orange, in Provence, in 1986, but as it was only during reharsals there's no recording of it available... too bad!

Just in case anyone's interested ...

cheers

I have to agree with the See Emily play thing.
Biggest PF cover crime: Limp Bizkit, wish you were here!
