| Re: "See Emily Play" What is this song a reference to? I'm sorry--I don't know so much about the early works, so please be kind to me!

| Re: "See Emily Play" Syd was commisioned to write this song for a free festival, "Free Games For May". Around that time, during many of the so- called "Freak-outs" (kinda spontaneous "Happenings"), there was a well known young girl, a teenager, the titular Emily, who would attend these parties and get very, very minced on the drugs du jour of that time. Such was the nature of her hedonism, that Syd wrote the lyrics especially with her in mind. I can't remember her second name at present, but I'll post it when I do. Cheers, Mark _________________ Isn't this where we came in?

I believe was the dream theory. He had a dream of a girl in the woods. I might be wrong though. Although there was a dream theory. |

| The Honourable Emily Kenneth...... the young girl (16 yrs was it?) was indeed a regular at the happenings. apparantly, the babe in the woods tale was a ploy to evade detection of hapless emily to the press. emily came from a high up there kinda family and it would have been QUITE the scandal. Barrett was still very kind and thoughtful in those days. ++my heart is in Cambridge

| Re: "See Emily Play" no, syd didn't date her or anything. he just thought she and others like her totally missed the whole point of the cultural revolution he felt was happening at that time: "emily tries, but misunderstands...." he saw the whole thing as spiritually enlightening while emily and some others were just getting kicks. syd's crowd called her 'the psychadelic schoolgirl.'

| Re: "See Emily Play" Thaz what's so great about the Floyd and its members, so convoluted, complex shtuffs,.... we r all still learning. Anyone who says they know EVERYTHING about Floyd or Syd is either lying or delusional--(except for ME of course, 'cuz i'm all omnipotent I highly recommend buying these books-- Saucerfull of Secrets-The Pink Floyd Odyssey by Nicholas Schaffner Syd Barrett-Crazy Diamond by Mike Watkinson and Pete Anderson Another Brick in the Wall by Cliff Jones (altho this one's got plenty of mislabeled photos and a discrepancy-discrepEncy? of dates, is still full of great photos and true stories about the inspirations of Floyd works. have fun and don't let any Floyd "experts" discourage your spirit.

| Re: "See Emily Play" thanks. i wont be buying any books for now until i get out of the little debt that im in to my best friends dad. i read a book about them called The Wall, i think. im not sure if its the same one as Another Brick in the Wall, cause im not really sure whether it was called The Wall. all i know is my neighbour stole it from his friend. i could always get them from the library though. i was wondering, did anyone really figure out everything behind the publius enigma?
