Classic Albums Live Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary in Toronto
Toronto, ON - April 12, 2004 - Classic Albums Live, one of Toronto’s most innovative and exciting concert experiences, will mark its one year anniversary of stunning performances on Thursday, April 22 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Pink Floyd's “The Wall” will be recreated live on stage note for note, cut for cut by some of Toronto's best musicians in what will be a special night and landmark performance for the series which has seen amazing success over the past year.
Presented by Toronto musician and producer Craig Martin, The Classic Albums Live series has staged live recreations of some of rock’s most influential albums, garnering rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Says Martin, “I’m thrilled that the series has been such a success. No one had ever done this before and the response has been amazing.” A different band is assembled for each performance and featured albums have included The Beatles’ White Album, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin IV, and Queen’s A Night At the Opera. These are not tribute shows - the performers do not try to act like the featured artists. The skillful live recreation of the album’s music is the emphasis of each performance.
With the originality of this recital-style presentation and the success of Classic Albums Live in Toronto other markets have been inspired to book the series for running engagements. Classic Albums Live will be debuting at B.B. King’s Blues Club and Grill in New York City on April 17 with a performance of Bruce Springsteen’s classic Born To Run, and plans are underway for bringing the series to other prominent American markets in 2005.
Classic Albums Live is a truly unique experience for any music lover. Presented by Q107 and Smirnoff Ice, tickets are $12 advance and $15 at the door, available through Ticketmaster.
