| Re: Reflection on Broken China This poem was written immediately after listening to Mr. Wright's solo album Broken China for the first time. It's not a masterwork or anything (my poem, I mean--Broken China just might qualify as one), but it will show (I hope) the powerful emotional reaction I had to this album--Mr. Wright is wonderful at making the listener able to identify with him...even more, to feel that you are in his shoes, experiencing what he does. The Watcher stands upon the edge Feeling her pain as his own And his outstretched hand Empty without its counterpart Is the symbol of his pain Is the symbol of his love The Watcher reaches into the glassy sea Wanting so much to take her home Wanting to give her his shoulder To lean upon, wanting to give her his hand The Watcher gives her comfort But who will comfort the Watcher? And in a shining moment--the connection The Watcher can finally surrender this name He gives her the love she's wanted to have And then he takes her home He takes heart in the warmth of her hand And she in his 2001 by FloydWaters
