what do you think of electric light orchestra?

I think they are great! I especially like their older stuff like "On The Third Day" and "Face The Music" good stuff....heavy Beatles influence there.

Probably the most Beatles sounding band apart from the Beatles. I like some of their more popular stuff, pretty much anything besides their slower songs.

ELO has put out some catchy tunes that I like very much. I think they are a bit 'popish" but enjoyable just the same.

I've always enjoyed their stuff.. I basically grew up with them..

Even with the "electronics" and "orchestrations" they were still a great rock band..

Jeff Lynn is a effing genius as well.

About two years ago they put out a three CD retrospective collection... with some previously unreleased meterial... it's great. I'd highly reccomend it to anyone interested in getting to know them..

I really could go on. ELO's fusion of Beatles-esque harmonies and melodic structure don't make them a bad band, I actually think they are quite good. BUt there is no denying the heavy Beatles influence in their music. I've even heard Jeff Lynne say how influenced he was by their music. The Beatles were his idols.

I have just listened to Bluebird Is Dead for the first time, and frankly it does sound like a Lennonesque blues dirge.

I have been neither fan or hater of ELO. To me it's consistently good music, in the main.

What band after The Beatles will escape the comparison? It seems even the Beatles invented harmonies now. Where did the Fabs get their ideas?
