| Hi, i'm sure this has already been somewhat covered but is also somewhat of a individual question. I have the following floyd albums: (in the order that i acquired them) WYWH, DSOTM, Animals, Meddle, Ummagumma, The Wall, and Atom Heart Mother...now, if any of you have any suggestions as to which album i definitely should buy next, then i would greatly appreciate it. Just some info- I have enjoyed pretty much every side of the Floyd that i've heard so far; my favorite being a toss up between Animals, The Wall, and...ah hell, i really cant choose any favorites because they are all different and i love them all. I have been thinking that i should really pick up Piper at the Gates of Dawn but am a bit reluctant to do so...why? i'm not really that sure...i have yet to hear syd-era floyd (i think) and dont quite know what to expect...i suppose i should just buy it, but i figured i would just ask for some input from you more experienced floydians...anyway, thanks for your time and i appreciate it in advance. |

Indeed. Otherwise, just pick one and see if you like it. |

| Re: Do you guys have any suggestions? ummagumma is part of the Syd era, i have all of the ones you have and a couple more, but they're just copies as im in debt to my parents. i dont have piper at the gates of dawn, but just from the songs on it i'd say get that one.

Yes. Listen to some Syd stuff first to make sure you like it before you buy Piper.

| Re: Do you guys have any suggestions? The Division Bell. And then Obscured By Clouds. And then Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live And then, all the rest, in random order. Enjoy.

| Re: Do you guys have any suggestions? You need to get your hands on the "Total Eclipse: A Retrospective" You can't buy it in the stores I think Ebay has a few copies. It has 4 discs that span the entire Pink Floyd carreer. I would say it's the fans answer to the dissapointing "Shine On" box set. Excellent must have addition to any serious Floyd fan. In my opinion.

| Re: Do you guys have any suggestions? wow, thanks for all of the responses...anyway, i was dying to go out last night to the local shops and see what i could find so i ended up shelling out $19 for piper (because it was the only place in town that had it or anything i would have wanted.) So far i have listened to it a time of two through...the first time i didnt really know what to think about it...i did like astronomy domine (having heard it off of Ummagumma- although i do like the umma version better), intersteller overdrive was nice...gnome, chapter 24, bike and a few others that really stood out to me...after having a second listen, it's growing on me a bit...but it is certainly different...i was also previously interested in Obscured by Clouds but i would have to drive up to Best Buy or some big warehouse-like place (or get lucky in a local store) to find that one...how much does the Total Eclipse set usually go for? i have heard of that, and i remember searching for it on ebay once but maybe there were none out there at the time...ah, i'll search again...thanks again for the suggestions. |
