| Problem with people Hey Floydians, since the world of Floyd and it's fans is all about humanity and that sort of thing I decided to post this here. One of my biggest dreams is to be a professional musician making it out there in the popular world of 'underground' in the Jeff Beck/Michael Schenker sense. Almost every step and breath I take is for that dream. But, as a paranoid jerk who likes to analyze, I kind of feel stuck. You see, as an Italian with relatives from the north, I have a kind of a nosey, elbow-rubby family if you know what I mean. People who are always wanting to get involved with what the other guy is doing, no respect for other people's personal lives, trying to sometimes run the person's life, intrude or get involved where they aren't concerned. Some are so rude as to make fun of people with disabilities and judge/criticize others without looking at themselves first, and they have just as much flaws. I'm thinking of joining a band soon but I'm kind of scared that what they do to everyone else they will do to me and there's no doubt in my mind that they will try to take a piece of my pie, Jack! The kind of people that will insist on putting my name on internet websites for exposure or that sort of embarrassing thing. There's no doubt in my mind that they will try to intrude as they do to everyone else. I feel so oppressed by this. Some might think it's ridiculous to have anxiety in anticipation of something that might or might not happen, but I'd rather be concerned then have my dreams burnt and destroyed by people with no respect to other people's personal lives. What could I do about this? ![]() |

| Re: Problem with people This'll come across as a little patronizing, but I truly do not mean it to, ok? How old are you, PZ?

| Re: Problem with people Ah. Well, it should get easier as you get older because people will naturally recognise a maturity within you and are more likely to give you the credit that you actually deserve, rather than that which you think that you should be given (usually off kilter in the teen years) or most likely, you'll stop caring as much what others think and do what feels right, which'll probably kick off the process anyways. It's a true story.

| Re: Problem with people Hmm, yeah, that makes sense, laddy. I kind of have a bad tendency to worry about future events from my present point of view yet I don't consider any number of things that could make circumstances different in between now and the time that I anticipate. But then again all of the people they disrespect and intrude on are usually in their 30's-60's ![]() P.S. 18 actually, but 18, 19, it's the same. |

| Re: Problem with people They're all working for The Man, but listen (mostly) to what they have to say. It'll stand you in good stead for the future, matey. "I just want to say one word to you...just one word."--Mr. McGuire (Walter Brooke) to Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) "Yes, sir."--Ben "Are you listening?"--Mr.McGuire "Yes, sir. I am."--Ben "Plastics."--Mr. McGuire (A pause) "Exactly how do you mean?"--Ben

no offence taken here, I am always amused by that line as a matter of fact, we had some consultants "junior achievers" give day long presentations to our students. they were grateful to return to their own jobs ...

| Re: Problem with people Seriously... Some years ago, one of my elder male relatives somehow came across a tape of a practice session from a band I played in during the 80's. He chose a family dinner at my folks' house as the appropriate setting to play it... Now, aside from the appalling quality of the recording, practice sessions are exactly that, and this one sounded like it - much amusement was had by all. But so what? When I die, I'll know I tried. Some people never do.
