"Money" by the post-Waters Floyd...

WHY in God's name did they add the "Woo woo" thing the female vocalists sing after every line? I asked this to someone else a while back and the response I got was "Dave probably did it just to annoy Roger" but that was kind of a joke response.

So, does anyone know the real story?

P.S. I searched on this topic already, sorry mods if I missed it...

I hate the woo-woo in Money.

But I'll tell you what I hate almost as much, if not more, it's the female background singers singing on "Welcome To The Machine" on Roger Waters "In The Flesh" DVD, CD.

Don't get me wrong a little woo-woo and some chick background singers never hurt anything but some songs sound way better without it...."Welcome To The Machine" being one of them.

I really hate the Gilmour solo version of Money on AGCODS. Mind, I really hate the original too, so it's not really that surprising.

True, Money has to be one of my least favorite Floyd songs.

I agree with that too. 'Welcome to the Machine' is a great track on WYWH but Roger screwed it up with those background vocals on 'In The Flesh'

I like the song 'Money' and I like how Gilmour and Co. handle it for the most part, except for those "Woo Woo' lines...

I like the studio version of money, but the live version tended to drag. I mean especially after the upbeat part of the instrumetnal break and right before they begin singing again.

I'm annoyed by the long stretch in the"live" versions (DSoT & PULSE) where Dave has the extended bass riffs, the singing girls "ooh-oohing", etc. Too much dead space inviting the drunks in the crowd to yell & whistle.
But this is all relative, of course, it's still a helluva lot better than the Vines.

Couldn't agree more about the superfluous fluff in the live version. Sometimes I feel that even the studio version had too much fluff in terms of its solo... the most annoying song on Dark Side.

Re: "Money" by the post-Waters Floyd...

Maybe it could be that Gilmour got sick of playing exactly the same arrangement in every single concert for 600+ shows running and threw in some random stuff to keep him occupied. Look at the boredom on his face. He carries on conversations with other band members while playing his solos. He stands there, endlessly regurgitating the same stuff over and over... give him a break! He's gotta mix it up or he'd go insane.

That being said, it still sounds terrible.

Did Gilmour re-record Money on A Collection Of Great Dance Songs or summit?

Why exactly did he re-record it? Were any of the other songs re-recdone as well?
