Where would you put the songs from The Final Cut into The Wall?

Aside from Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert/The Fletcher Memorial Home and Not Now John, where do you think the other songs would fit?

For some reason I think that Your Possible Pasts would be somewhere after Mother.

The Final Cut would've been perfect either immediatly before or after Nobody Home, though for some reason it doesn't go well with the "Paranoid midnight maniac" feeling that the other songs had, but it does kind of seem like a ray of light and confusion in that area, so in a way I think the contrast would've added some more depth to the character.

Though after Stop would've also been the perfect place to put it.

The Wall has already enough poor material inside, doesn't really need The Final Cut's rubbish.

Water originally wrote The Wall as one piece that included all of the songs of the Final Cut. He had enough material for 3 disks, so he decided to get rid of a bunch of songs. In 1982, after he had released The Wall, he started a new project called "Spare Bricks", songs that were intended for the Wall but were scratched. He then renamed it The Final Cut, and released it.

Not quite. There is some material on The Final Cut that was rescued from the rubbish heap, but also a lot of brand new stuff which was written after The Wall. For instance, Roger did not and could not envision that Britain would go to war with Argentina in 1982, even though he wrote "do you remember me, how it used to be, do you think we should be closer?" in 1978.

Actually he wrote "do you remember me, how we used to be?" in about 1969, in a song called Incarceration of a Flower Child, dedicated to Syd. He then gave the original song to Marianne Faithful and it can be found on her album Vagabond Ways.

I used to hate The Final Cut. Now it is one of my fav. albums. Listen to the lyrics and the beautiful vocal delivery from Roger throughout. I feel that it was brilliant. Possible Pasts is in my top 5 PF songs.

Is that face indicating that you do not feel that Roger's vocals were emotionally moving? Honestly, I find it hard to find Roger in better form that TFC. I will never understand why I used to not like it. It is AMAZING. Listen to Possible Pasts... The chorus is amazing... very moving.

"Emotional", yes. Of course Roger is feeling what he sings, after all this album is dedicated to his father. But I wouldn't say "beautiful". I'm not a great fan of Roger's voice but I think that even Roger himself once admitted that the singing in TFC was quite "tortured". I'm not saying that it is not emotionally powerful, but the singing in TFC is not what I consider to be "beautiful" (like, say, Tori Amos' singing in most of her songs).

Oh ok. At least I understand what you mean. I guess that I consider something that moves me so much to be beautiful. I don't think it needs to be frilly and 'nice', but it simply has to stir emotions for music to be beautiful.

Yes, you're also right there! That's a good definition of beautiful as well.

Yes, or "Wether we are capable of being humane or not". He tends to repet himself a bit lately...
