Yeah, Dave's efforts with "faux-Floyd" (AMLOR and DB) are much more listenable than his 2 solo efforts. I wonder if he is just a much better writer in collaboration? Because he also wrote many classic Floyd songs w/Roger. Or maybe in his solo albums he just wanted to do the guitar-oriented thing?

i have About Face on vinyl, but i cant listen to it cause i dont have a record player. i just bought it cause i wanted it and it was only 3$. i guess i should get the cd or something. with time i guess. once the school year starts again i get 20$ a week, so i'll have them all in no time.

I think if people buy or listen to Dave's solo albums expecting to hear Floyd.. then they get very disappointed and make the comments like many have above...

But its not Floyd albums...its Dave's solo albums.. and I personally think both are great... both have a lot of feeling, show more of his diverse guitar styles and shows that he is capable of a lot of talent on his own about from Floyd. Murder and Raise My Rent are excellent guitar pieces.. and Lets Get Metaphysical shows his progressive side... just beautiful. Near the End shows his folky side... Blue Light and Love on the Air.. his pop rock side.. I think both albums are excellent.

Actually there's no better driving cds than both of these. I drove from Scotland to Bournemouth England.. .playing nothing but these cds.. and for a Yank.. that ain't an easy thing to do.

I used to think that his first solo album was much better than About Face but I've grown to like it a lot. Murder is very good. It isnt as "80s" sounding as i keep reading, really nothing compared to One Slip, apart from the electronic effects on Until We Sleep. With the best things from this album he could have made AMLOR a muuuuuuuuuuch better album. His instrumental tracks are always brilliant, there are is only one on About Face though while there are 3 or 4 of them on his first one.
