On September 11, 2001, the United States was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the terrorist forces of an unknown state.

Remember everyone who has died today.

Remember the pain of a nation.

Reports are, not made public yet but the center who traces cellular transactions, traced calls made to Osamma Bin Ladin(sp? you know who im talking about) that they had succeeded in destroying the buildings. Afghanistan as well is in cahoots of course with Bin Ladin and tried to cover up for him by for no reason trying to clear his name while trying to clear they're own.

We must remember, though, that if it IS bin Laden, that not the entire nation of Afghanistan is responsible.

Afghanistan is in a civil war: the fundamentalist Taliban versus other factions.

In fact, we have had a demonstration tonight of this fact: fighting broke out in Kabul, the centre of the Taliban. It was NOT U.S. retaliation--it was in fact a battle in a civil war that has been going on in years in Afghanistan.

I just wanted to make it clear that Afghanistan is not totally united under the Taliban.

True, and i should correct myself as saying it was the leader of the Taliban who tried dismissing himself and Bin Laden.

Bush's words: "We will treat those who harbour terrorists no differently from the terrorists themselves." (paraphrased)

There's lotsa angry words being said. It's frightening stuff...

Well, I live in Cleveland Ohio, where the plane that crashed in Penn. turned around. I was very shocked by this whole thing, actually witnessing the entire thing as it happened on TV(free period in school). Being only 16, depsite being a mature and aware 16 year old, I could never have imagined anything like this every happening. So I now listen to the Final Cut trying to understand what the hell happened. We even got a day off of school tomorrow for it. Not saying thats a good thing or anything.

Hey
What a horrible day. My father actually works in the World Trade Center, but he is alright. He got home about 30 mintues ago (9:50) and is covered in sut and dust. It was pretty frightening for him especially, and I know many people with parents working at the World Trade Center. I just hope this doesn't spark a war on a large scale, although some retaliatory military action is basically inevitable. I fell asleep earlier, waking up thinking it was only a dream, but then I turned on the TV. Anyway, I feel terrible about the people killed today and their families. Listening to Floyd has helped calm me down, though. Lets hope the worst is over.

Yes, a day that will leave in infamy and that will not be forgotten. If I had not seen it on CNN today I wouldn't have believed. The whole thing seems like a dream or a movie, never as reality. It is so sad to think of the children that won't be seeing their parents tonight and of the thousands families that were shattered because of this stupid act of war from an unknown enemy. My prayers, thoughts and condolences to everybody involved in this horror.

Sincerely,
Paulo R. Dallagnol

It was terrible because I did not see it on TV first. But had I seen it live, I believe I would have been physically ill. I walked into a room and heard people talking about it. I thought that they were messing with my head--it sounded too much like the Tom Clancy book Debt of Honor to be true. That resemblance is scary...what if that book was the inspiration for this attack?

And without going into detail, last night I had a premonition of something awful happening.

Balalaika, I am so glad to hear that your father is safe. After all of today's stories of horror, it is a bright spot today to hear about your joy.

I pray for everyone who will not experience that joy.

And it is scary, too, the thought that America may go to war. There has been discussion, though as yet NO bills have been put forward, that it may be legal to declare war on a person. If so, the United States may go to war. That is frightening indeed.

It seems mad watching all these Palastinians celebrating such a catastriophic human waste, and in such a horrible and, frankly, totally cowardly way. Surely if they actively encourage and revel in this, it would be wrong of them to object should similar underhanded actions be directed at them? And the Taliban- keen to distance themselves from Bin Laden, fearing retribution- but what real use are they to anyone? A few years back, there was a certain amount of discussion put into whether the last smallpox virus should be extinguished, but as it was a lifeform, did it not deseve to survive, albeit in captivity? I say that there are certain lifeforms that, through actions against their others, deseve no such justice. Bin Laden is a ****. The Taliban are horrible fucking pricks.

Drop the bomb.

fixxlevy, that is the sort of attitude that the terrorists abide by. Presumbably you too will be 'celebrating' when the Americans take your advice and bomb innocent people as they are wont to do - paracetomol factory in sudan for eg one of their recent little adventures. Of course the events of yesterday are truly terrible but that sort of ill thought out, immature response is the cause of the problems. It puts you in the same camp as the perps unfortunately. Very depressing indeed.

I know it does seem slightly "reactionary", but with thsi being compared to the attack on Pearl Harbour, I can say is that it definitely worked during WW2, and I'm damned sure that it would work this time around, also. With Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan resolutely folded, pulling out of the war, tails between legs and that was that.

OF COURSE it's not the best of solutions, but take a look at the reports from Jerusalem, supposedly the cradle of "Holiness", and look at the people and the absolute rapture they're experiencing, knowing that countrymen of theirs have murdered thousands of "The Western Devils".

What is wrong with this picture???

Why shouldn't we fight fire with fire?

It seems to be the only thing deranged fuckers like Bin Laden and each and everyone of his followers and every single person that felt anything other that total horror at yesterday's terrible, terrible happening understand.

Ps- I reckon you're a registered contributor to this forum. Instead of condemning me anonymously, I won't mind if you want to contact me by email and continue this discussion. It's not some weird, threatening shit, I just don't like the fact that you feel you have to hide your name, being equally entitled to having your own opinions attributed to who you actually are, as opposed to being lumped in to the "Backstreet Boys rule!" types that don't really have anything relevant or important to say.

Cheers,

Mark.

Personally, I believe America WILL retaliate. But how soon?

I heard yesterday discussion of the concept of Congress declaring war on a person rather than a nation. So far, of course, no bills have been put forward to this effect, but it is being discussed. And there is also, of course, the fact that WE HAVE YET to prove who did this. It is frightening to hear, but America may soon be in its first DECLARED war since World War II...since Pearl Harbour.
