After "Any way they could..." it sounds like a chipmunk-like voice making a quick screaming noise. No, it's not the echo or the pre-echo of "By pouring every weakness", you have to turn up your volume and listen for it.

Tonight when I watch The Wall I'll listen for it on the movie as well. What could that be?

I don't have my copy of The Wall with me at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that I know what you're talking about -- I've always thought it was a teacher yelling "OAF!"

Yes, or somesuch other expression of belligerent anger directed towards one of his hapless charges.

I thought it sounded more like someone getting hit in the stomach or something and going "oof" in a winded manner.

I'm with the Cheese on this one - reaction to getting hit: "Oof"

Yeah, if it is though it was probably edited to have that high pitched hamster-like voice. Either that or they abused a hamster just to get a sound out of him

The sounds I hear are the cackling laughter of the schoolmaster and the sound of someone's hand being crushed (like knuckles cracking) followed by the "oof" as previously mentioned.

Ah, schooldays!

No, I'm pretty sure there was a disclaimer on the packaging of The Wall that states: "No animals, school children, or groupies were harmed in the production of this album."

Yea, on the right channel.

You can't hear it on the film, I just listened to the 5.1 mix.

"poems, poems everybody.." I hate that part man - i mean, it is good, of course, but it shows THAT much...I had some case like that in my high-school....
