Re: A momentary lapse of reason or the DB

if you can, you get both. it's a difficult choice. I voted for MLOR 'cause i think it's more consistant. Learning to Fly, Sorrow, On the Turning Away, are amazing songs and Dogs of War is also very good. in Division Bell you have ...coming back to life, high hopes, keep talking, what do you want from me as best songs i think. PULSE It's very, very good, but MLOR has better songs, but hey is just an opinion

............

hmmmmm, tough choice, i love them both. I would say get both, but if you have to go with one, i would say go with the Division Bell, i find myself listening to 'coming back to life', 'high hopes' and 'lost for words' alot recently, but i used to listen to 'sorrow' and 'learning to fly' every day so it changes, for now i would go with the division bell.

division bell just because of poles apart. this is my favorite song post waters. high hopes is such a powerfull song as well. don't get me wrong, amlor is a great album (yet another movie's guitar solo is one of dave's best)

Re: A momentary lapse of reason or the DB

I'd say Momentary Lapse of Reason, since it has Signs of Life, Sorrow, On the Turning Away... but having said that Division Bell has Cluster One, Coming Back to Life, keep Talking, High Hopes...

Actually, get both.

Re: A momentary lapse of reason or the DB

I think that both albums are good in terms of music production, with TDB having the better lyrics.

The Division Bell.

Lapse of Reason has 2 great songs (OTTA and LTF), a couple passable ones, and a bunch of garbage, whereas The Division Bell is more consistent if a little monotonous.

What? Please, if you consider MLOR monotonous, i wander what you think about The Final Cut, Animals and Saucerful of Secrets... annoying, perhaps?
Dogs of War, Learning to Fly, Sorrow... could be anything but monotonous!

Re: A momentary lapse of reason or the DB

jose, I actually said The Divison Bell was a little monotonous - all the songs are kind of drowned in mellow, watery synths. It gives the album a unifying theme but also prevent its from being a great album IMO (although the songs aren't that incredible to begin with...)

But once again, I like The Division Bell BETTER than Momentary Lapse of Reason which - sorry, Floyd fanatics - is a load of garbage with 2 great songs (OTTA and LTF) and 1 passable song (Sorrow) thrown in...

For the record, I LOVE Animals, enjoy The Final Cut occasionally (Give me some time to form a final opinion on this one...I generally think its a good album), and like Saucerful as well.

hmmmmm

IMHO, don't buy either of these albums. I really don't think anything Floyd wrote post-Waters is any good. Better to get one of Roger's solo albums. Thats just me speaking.

TDB is a classic... a great album indeed. But AMLOR is also well worth your money.
