Re: Atom heart mother

Your dead on with what you said _archer.
'Fat Old Sun',I feel, is a very underrated song. 'If' is nothing less than A classic.
And AHM,I think, takes A little bit to get used to but, is very good.

Re: Atom heart mother

SOMETHING TO KNOW ABOUT "ATOM HEART MOTHER": "Wish You Were Here" is not the first Pink Floyd recording that Syd Barrett wandered into after leaving the band. AHM was. But, he wandered in while Ron Geesin was adding the choir and orchestra while the Floyd was on tour elsewhere.

Re: Atom heart mother

atom heart mother is amazing for sure. when i finally got it, i was already down with wish you were here, meddle, dark side, (etc.), so i didn't feel ahm the first time through...

spectacular though, it's on alan's psychedelic breakfast right now... as a whole, it's very alternative in an almost sarcastic way... or I'm a moron. both possible.

kubric didn't use ahm for 2001, but it wouldn've been interesting if he did... he used richard strauss' tune "thus spoke zarathustra" though, which is decent music as well.

Re: Atom heart mother

He was supposed to use AHM fpr A Clockwork Orange. 2001 came out before AHM.

Re: Atom heart mother

I was under the impression that Pink Floyd wouldn't let Stanley use Atom Heart Mother for the soundtrack. I quite like the soundtrack for the film already, so I don't know how great it would be if they had used Atom Heart Mother.

Re: Atom heart mother

I think its music is always underrated and unappreciated, like that of "Ummagumma," "More," or "Obscured by Clouds." Many would say the best from this album would be, "If" or "Fat Old Sun." But in my opinion, there are two pieces from this album which are shining gems in Pink Floyd's lexicon; the title suite and "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast."

I like Summer'68. By the way, this song has been used as the opening theme for a famous news broadcast here in Brazil, about 30 years ago.

Re: Atom heart mother

I love all of AHM, and I find it very relaxing to listen to... until you get to Alan chewing his psychedelic cereal. Much as I like the track, that's a little distracting to say the least.

Re: Atom heart mother

Has anyone noticed that in the very beginning of 'Fat old sun' you can heared the beginning of 'High Hopes' (i think) from the DB. Tell me your opinion about it.
