what do you think about this album? i really like especially 'if', 'alan's psychedelic breakfast' (morning glory is my favorite) and 'atom heart other suite'. i think this album is a little bit underrated, especially the title song probably beacuse the orchestra and the choir. i don't know but i just like it. so, what do YOU think?

My favourite on that album is "Summer '68." Mr. Wright's work is SO underrated, but very good! What a beautiful song! I'm even trying to learn it now on the piano (which is no small feat for someone who can only read music by guitar chords!).

The rest of it I like as well, and I would say it is quite underrated as a whole.

"if" and "AHM suite" are my favorite. Also underrated is the AHM/2001 space oddity synch. if echoes was meant to be than i think the suite was the floyds first stab at the synch. just my thoughts.

Now, I heard something about Mr. Kubrick asking Pink Floyd if he could use the AHM Suite in "A Clockwork Orange." Is there any truth to this?

I've read this too. I forget which book it is in but it is stated in one of the Pink Floyd biographies. I know its not Nick Schaffner's book. Perhaps the Floyd and Kubrick were better acquainted than they let on.

Stanley Kubrick wanted to use the album for the soundtrack to Clockwork Orange. They said no. I guess the Floyd must not have been very big fans of Kubrick as they also refused when asked to do the soundtrack to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Although Roger regrets that.

As for Atom Heart Mother, my favorite track would have to be Atom Heart Mother. It's quite entrancing, really. If is quite nice too. The album's not as good as many of their other albums, but it is a really good album.

i'm sorry because of it too because it would be great if they used 'echoes' for the movie finale ('jupiter and beyond the infinity'). it would be a beautiful ending.

I absolutely love 'Morning Glory' and that part in AHM where the chorus comes on and the choir is more in the background. An extremely underatted album. Very few new age listeners ever listen to it.

"Summer '68", "If", "AHM" itself and Alan's breakfast.

Overall, though a touch too much orchestration perhaps, a very good effort.

Floyd on!

Atom Heart Mother - my first Floyd album (reveived it as a present from a friend) and actually my favourite PF album. I simply adore all the songs, From Father's Shout to Morning Glory. A lot of orchestra, but very nice connection with classical music.
It is very underrated, but I simply love it.

Typing mistake - "received it", not "reveived it". Just wanted to correct that.

I think AHM is great album overall. I don't care much about Alan's thing, but the songs are perfect. Don't know which one I like more than others, they are just three wonderful songs.
As for the suite itself, it contains imho the best drum part by Nick (I can't say in which part of the suite, just don't remember titles). Those drums set shivers down the spine evry time I hear it.
But someone can find it too pompous (not me though).

A great Album.
My Faves: AHM Suite, If, Fat Old Sun.
The Atom Heart Mother Tour Is from the time when the band was at Its Climax when it comes to Live performances. One Of my Favourite Pink Floyd Bootlegs is a 2CD Bootleg Called "Atom Heart Mother Goes On the Road" Which contains Live material from 1970 & 1971, and It's Totaly Superb!

But Let's get back to the album.
I immediately Liked "If" & "Fat Old Sun" From the 1st listen but I needed 3 or 4 listens before I could get used to the AHM Suite, which I Now Love Dearly.
I also discovered interest in the beginning in Alan Breakfast but as I continued listening, Interest in Alan Breakfast Decreased and interest in AHM Suite Increased.

Anyway, Great Album, Great pieces Of Music,
also summer of 68'.
Keep up listenling Chaps...
