Here's the lowdown on it if anyone wanna know about the DVD version It goes for about 12 mins, it's of Syd on mushies in the Gog Magog hills, Filmed by Syds friend in 1966, Nigel Gordon. It's only interesting if your a hardcore Syd fan, but for everyone else (Boresville!) on the second part it has the group in the 60's after they signed up with EMI and it stars the PF van !! they do a little dance and that's it really ! It does have a nicely chilled soundtrack (dvd only) by Dilate - hypnotic records I say it again, Buy it only if you a dedicated PF and Syd fan !! and a completist ! it's a limited Edition, so I think you'll only find it secondhand but you really don't want to buy it brand new, 'cos it'll probably cost an arm and a leg and it's only worth an ear or perhaps a toe !!

| Re: Syd Barrett's First Trip I almost ruined myself using teh magic mushrooms and lsd why in the world would I want to watch somebody else ruin themselves with them. It depresses me for people to be like...OMG Its Syd...on SHROOMS!!! Lets all watch grab the popcorn!

| Re: Syd Barrett's First Trip It is not as if Syd's drug experimentation was what forced him to end is carreer and go into therapy. He had schizophrenia and which was something that was starting to happen before his drug use. It is said that after Syd had started experimenting, he made better use of his creativity and started to write some great tunes. I have seen the tape and it is sort of eerie compliments of the background music but otherwise I think it is another piece of footage to take in, another experience if you will.

| Re: Syd Barrett's First Trip I'd only believe it if i heard from his mouth and only his. I don't know many people or any that videotape their "first trip", maybe 2nd or after several experimentations.

| Re: Syd Barrett's First Trip Hi, I own the movie and bought it from HMV for 10pounds. really not worth the money. stupid background music but the most irritating part about it is that they actually released the footage which is sad because that was part of what destroyed him. very sad indeed. |

| Re: Syd Barrett's First Trip I've seen a small bit of it when Syd's looking at his hands. Big deal. I remeber doing that myself. Tracers. It's not a big deal to experiment, but he took it WAY too far which makes it sad. But I also think that he probably had a predisposition to mental illness and that it wasn't all the drugs that did him in. Although I'm sure it played a part. |
