What do your friends think of pink floyd?

My friend who is a fan of European Hit Radio listened to The Wall CD2 and said that it is musically fantastic. He is a student in music school and understands music, but he said that he didn`t get the story of the album.

Yes, the same as in my school.

Why bother, really?

I mean, the whole reason I've gotten into some of the bands I really like was purely because a friend of mine who has little or no interest in Pink Floyd was really into this other stuff and told me about it.

My best friend is a huge Radiohead fan, and she's the whole reason I ever really gave them a serious listen.
The same goes for the Killers. I had been hearing so much about how they were just a shite band that I backed off from listening to them until a friend of mine played the cd one night while we were painting. I ended up really liking them. These things don't happen unless there's some diversity in music taste out there.

Gah I have get nothing but abuse for liking them off my friends and family. When I pointed this out my Mum said to me "I don't give you abuse I just think your wierd and I don't know where you get it from".

My friend Rachel knows a lot of their songs but never knew who they were by. Everytime we talk on the phone, I play a song by them and she goes, "Hey, I know that song, who's it by?" So I guess she likes them.

My other friends have no idea who "he" is.

Most of my friends in high school liked ABITW pt2 only. Try to put on another song and the insults would fly. My sister likes The Wall, I recently burned DSOTM to her and yesterday she asked me to let her borrow all the other albums. Friends now either think some songs are okay, some think it's total crap, one of them is as fanatic as I am. That was funny when we realized we both liked the Floyd after knowing each other for a couple of months (mind you, we weren't talking much, just "hi how are you" and small talk like that). It went like:

(in the photo studio at school)
friend: *singing* Goodbye, blue sky...goodbye...
me: *heart attack* You like Pink Floyd!?!?!?
friend: YEAH! they're amazing! You like them?
me: OF COURSE!!

(we talk for about 2 hours about how the floyd rocks)

me: (thinking) Oh, where have you been all this time...

now everytime we meet we start talking about casual stuff but the conversation always leads to pink floyd and when we're both hysterical about a guitar part or some lyrics we like, all our other friends are like "oh no, not again.." and they leave

My wife was a Pink Floyd fan long before I was. Then, when I got hooked, she got pissed off at me for "highjacking" her band, and quit listening to them.

Why the hell do women think this way?

Heh, once I saw that a girl from my school was drawing something and it was a heart and words "Wish you were here" around it.
I said: "Hey, that`s a name of Pink Floyd`s album and a song!"
"Really? Who`s Pink Floyd?"
That was the first time when somebody asked me that. I didn`t bother to explain the greatness of Floyd, she just wouldn`t understand...

Right on, because these so-called "friends" of me and my husband have what I call "radio friendly" mentalities which digusts us to no end. Now I know it's "different strokes for different folks" but come on, these people should live a little and expand their minds to the more thought provoking songs of Pink Floyd's and not fall on the wayside of what is being exposed these days.
Curse the now MTV and VH-1 states for this travesty!

one of my friends is a fan of punk music (i mean good punk music). I played him Pigs because it was made in around the punk year dot, and he said he really liked it. We can listen to my most out there progressive music against his quickest punk and we never argue.
