Most of them like Floyd now, if they didn't before. Of course, you get the usual ones who have heard nothing but The Wall, and dislike it. Then you put Obscured by Clouds on without telling them who it is, and they have the 'moment of clarity'. I've also found that Pompeii is also good for converting the uninformed.

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

i work with y brother-in-law, and every now and then i bring my mp3 cd payer into work, on which i have a disc with several complete albums, and at least 2 pf albums, (my cd's usually avg 100 tracks, and i play them shuffled)and whenever floyd comes on, he's always like " man...playing some of that sitting on the couch doing bong hits music..." he really hates it when i have some rush on there

...whenever i wear my dsotm t-shirt, i lways have some stranger come up to me and say something great about the floyd boys

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

My friends don't know who Hendrix is and they mix up the names of the Beatles...so before me Pink Floyd was "a man" to them. I have told them some things about the Floyd, they have listened to little bits of Dark side.
..but they think it is "foogy and too slow" and those darn friends make a horrible face from time to time when i tell about my experiences concerning the Floyd.
There is one thing that's good about all this...because of my "greater-knowledge-in-music-then-theirs" they come to me for musical advice..
But still, i don't know how i put up with them

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

Some of my friends got into Floyd thanks to me when I was at university. One of them really liked slow acoustic music and I made him listen to "Shine On", "Julia Dream", "Wish You Were Here" and he began to like them. Another girl listened to "Shine On" on the radio and she "saw the light".

Then, there was that girl who kept asking me for music and she seemed to like everything I lent her. So I made a compilation of tracks I thought she wouldn't like as "The Gunner's Dream", "Come In Number 51" and some others I don't remember but not the classics... and she absolutely loved it. When I got to know her better I realized that she got a pretty good musical taste and wouldn't go just for the radio-friendly songs.

There's a colleague at the high school I'm working now who is also a Floyd fan. He went to see them live in Barcelona back in '94.

Most my friends like them.. but they don't listen to em... unless I put it on (on one of those drugy nights) and they all just trip out.. its very humourous to watch 'cause they think it's the best then.. but then come around the next day they could care less

I grew up listening PF with my friends at the same time, in 1987. I got all of them into it. They are still fans like me until now.

All of my friends like Pink Floyd, or most of them. I'm in a Pink Floyd gang, except for my best friend, who prefers System of a Down...

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

My friends are pretty evenly split between those who love them (some even more than I do) and those who've heard pretty much Floyd and despise them still.

A common Quote from friends and aquaintances is 'pink floyd? The music is for druggie's for listening to when out your face on Acid blah blah wibble wibble.'
