Most of my friends don't have a clue about Floyd. One woman friend doesn't know any rock music and she is 50 years old! I wonder what planet she lived on when younger! Can't believe that there are people who grew up in the 70's and aren't aware of Floyd and other rock groups. Sigh....I try to educate but it is hopeless.

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

I turned 43 on 7-29-04 and like DT all of my friends like PF, and most love PF. I graduated from Highschool in '79, we had 500 or so in our class, and 2000 + in the whole school, there might have been one or maybe even two people that DIDN'T like PF. There are a lot of good bands I listened to from the 50's & 60's, while I was in HS, so relatively speaking, It's 'good music is just good, and it's time and real time, become blurred' who cares when, the important thing is the 'what', if it's good, it'll stand on it's own, no matter when it was born.

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

Well my close friends enjoy the Floyd. Not as much as me, but enough to learn their parts. (We're trying to learn Another Brick in the Wall pt2) I've known it all the way through for a long long time...anyway thats not the point.

I made this iron on Wish You Were Here shirt, and I wear it all the time. But the first time I wore it to school this girl says "Isnt that from a movie commercial" I say "No, its the cover of a Pink Floyd album" I didn't have "Pink Floyd" anywhere on the front, but I had the hands on the back of my shirt and it says Pink Floyd wish you were etc. But she wouldnt believe me. No matter how hard I tried to explain she still thought I was lying. I hate it when people always think they're right even though they have no idea what they're talking about and you know it. I cant explain because they wont listen. So I just walked away...

Actually, she is from Michigan. Just never liked rock and was more into show tunes--ugh! She likes Neil Diamond. Nuff said.

Re: What do your friends think of pink floyd?

my friends are all weird.
one friend constantly repeats PF aren't pop music and that it's very hard to listen and understand them
one friend asked me to burn her DSOTM (finally someone normal!)
mostof my friends have never heard of them but then again they are very young and don't listen to that sort of music
but there is one friend who's A HUGE fan of theirs so we kinda get along. the only problem is he disses them alot. the last thing he said was they don't know how to play and they are so not good musicians but when people try to cover them they cennot do it vause they're unique.
in general i have this reputation i am a weirdo and at the same tine i'm respecetd for it. people want to change me and my hots for PF.

personal taste is subjective

Sometimes it looks like nobody around me has got any personal taste of music. They are afraid to be different, their taste is mass taste. They listen to everything on the radio, all the sh** that fills the top 40, 100, 10 and other lists of bad commercial music.

Yes, it`s the only Pink Floyd song that most people know and they have no idea about other PF songs. It is the first PF song that I heard in my life.

Yes, like in George Orwel`s "1984". Have you read it?
