Am I the only wierdo in this insane world or are there more like me ?! If so how many. I mean, I listen to Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Scorpions, SuperTramp and others who had their roots and influence during mid 60s and early 70s. NOBODY.....I MEAN NOBODY around here listens to such stuff. The chicks dig 'Bryan Adams' or BSB and stuff. The dudes think more of Head bangers like Metalica or Slayer, Sepultura and Rage Against The Machine. [Not to imply that these guys are useless....but you know...]. I sometimes wonder why ?!! Is there Anybody Out There....?? (Who knows why or wants to add to this..!! :smile

People have different tastes in music. Most people nowadays have had those tastes of music shoved down their throats so that's what they've been trained to look so they like it. j/k.

But people listen to the music they want to listen to. There are those that do like more than that. Pink Floyd is amazing, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy "head banger" music, as you put it. In fact I'm listening to Evil Empire right now, by Rage Against the Machine. A lot of Metallica's earlier stuff is great. Master of Puppets and Orion are both incredible songs.

So, it's just the way music works.

And there are other "weirdo"s out there. You just need to look.

You think you're a weirdo? Try being a fan of Mr. Wright's SOLO work as well as what he did with PF!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having diverse musical taste.

Whether or not you are a weirdo depends very much on where and amongst whom you live.

But I'd hazard a guess at, Yes!

You think you've got it bad. I had to grow up in a predominately black area in Southern California where anything heard other than soul or R&B marked one out as VERY STANGE INDEED, never mind weird.

Floyd 4ever!
Byron

p.s. I preferred to be VERY STRANGE INDEED rather than conform, sheep-like, to what the masses thought acceptable.

You are most certainly not the only blues fan out there! I love the blues, myself.

And welcome to the forum!

Greetings and welcome, BluesBabe,

Have a listen to the MORE album, it has a rather abstract but good blues track (More Blues) and of course "Biding My Time" is an excellent blues example.

Floyd on,
Byron

Well Hello BluesBabe !! Ahhhh, nice to see that one is not alone in this crazy world. Good, good all the more better. I might seem militant to some people for the manner in which I despise all things un-floyd and un-doors (The Scorpions is one huge exception) due to my total idolatorous worship. Like Bart Simpson would say "My hero...!! Are you kidding, I've based my entire life on the Floyd's teachings !!" But I suppose my bro is right on this one. If everyone were like the Floyd, man this world would be such a bore. I mean, we NEED the BSB, N'sync's to realize just how precious the Floyd are. I suppose you guys agree here. We need bad to see how good 'good' is ... or something like that

I can be very single-minded myself. I do listen to many other bands, but usually one song or one record each. The only band whose entire works I am trying to collect--as well as the solo works--is Pink Floyd. They definitely ARE the best...ALL of it.

Ahhh, but which is the REAL, TRUE Pink Floyd, Marks I, II, or III (Syd's, Roger's, or David's)?

Mischievously yours,
Byron

Roger's.

There's absolutely no denying it. There's no way that you could possibly say that if Dave's stuff was held up to The Golden Period, it would hold even a wetted match, let alone a candle, against such a fine body of work.

And Syd's brief period of work is just that.

Of it's time, yet paltry.

Dave's doesn't fit anywhere.

Much like his trousers.
