Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Sorry fixxy, but I must reiterate (my Merriam Webster "word-of-the-day": to state or do over again or repeatedly sometimes with
wearying effect):

Quote:
Memorials to the brave who sacrifice their lives for others are all well and good, it is both proper and fitting that such memorials occur.

... the very sentiments of "How I wish, how I wish you were here." couldn't have been more fitting for the occasion.

The cause was most honourable indeed, but my objections still stand: the original was more than appropriate without smarmy and squeamishly bad modifications.

2nd rant ends.

Floyd barn,
Byron

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Ok. As I see it, it wasn't simply aimed at the firemen and cops who perished, but also at their comrades, who are continuing to work towards sifting through the detritus and clearing the carnage. Honestly, stop being so precious. It's just a song. If you really have problems with Durst's interpretation, put yourself in the position of any mother, wife, son or daughter suffering a loss at this moment in time, and imaging how much it must have meant to them.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Precious, am I? Moi non plus!

I take your point, fixxy, however, I have to say again that it may have been a bit less comforting to hear that the loved ones of mothers (what about fathers?), husbands, wives, sons and daughters, feared crushed under the rubble are STILL HERE.

It would have been more comforting for me, if I'd been grieving for a lost/missing loved one to hear someone sing instead, that they "Wish you were here".

I just thought the amendments cheap and unnecessary. To be honest, I prefer my Floyd unaltered and unreconstructed, especially anything from WYWH.

Final rant ends.

Fanatically Floydian,
Byron

Rue D'avid Gilmour indeed. I like it, I like it. And of course, Roger does.

BTW, I will be unable to attend Roger's concerts in Rotterdam or Cologne next year, but if, as is stated, his concerts in June next year DO appear at Wembley arena, God willing, I shall be there.

Floydtastic,
Byron

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

By the way- if you dig really early pink Floyd, does that make you a Sydophant?

Roger and out,

Mark

Sydophant?

Perhaps, but it could very well mean one is a dyed-in-the-wool Barrettone.

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Commercialism rears it's ugly head at what should have been a time for realism. I guess that is what hurts the most.

They allowed a treasured piece of art to take a hit, when it should have been shining on, for the people it was meant for. (Anyone) It was a good choice for the situation, but not for Durst amd company. I am saddened a bit more that these folks thought they could pull it off. AND ARE!!!
The lunatic in there heads, are on prozac!

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Commercialism, duffys?

But all performances were surely contributed without cost and with the proceeds going to whichever Relief fund they are, well, funding.

Where does commercialism come into it? Would Limp Bizkit attempt to release their WYWH version for profit? I rather doubt it. At least, I hope to Heaven they don't.

Ciao,
Byron

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Now, what if you're a fan of Mr. Wright? I've never heard a name for that!

Of course, I love the work of the whole Pink Floyd!

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Sounds like you're on the Wright track there, FW.

But, just FYI, I AM a fan of Richard Wright.

Re: Fred Durst Must Love Ripping Off Floyd

Good for you!

I've been to other message boards where he's virtually ignored. The reason you hear me talk about his work so much here is that I talk about the other RW elsewhere! But if I so much as whisper Mr. Wright's name in there--BOOM! The words "duck and cover" come to mind!
