Gilmour Knighted?

I was just watching CNN, and I think I heard that BDG was knighted.

Can any of you Brits (or even a transplanted Yank, Byron) confirm this?

Re: Gilmour Knighted?

Well, perhaps Roger should fork over 6 million to charity if he wants a gong.

Re: Gilmour Knighted?

Thanks! (and thanks for the link, Fulghum!)

I'm wondering why CNN waited until November 8 to report it. They're slower in their news gathering than I am.

Re: Gilmour Knighted?

Well done Lilybeth!

Cheers David, Knight of my Heart! ( Sorry, Roger)

But I think that in our time, the third millenium, there's no need to give any Title of the Nobility to anyone. I can understand when there was the British Empire, but now ... We Italian have understood it 57 years ago, when our King ran away from our Country and left us in the hands of Mussolini&nazi. But the British are still tied hand and foot to their glorious past.

We are all equal not just in the end, but from the beginning to the end and then ...

Is this just an Utopia?

As opposed to being tied hand and foot to an inglorious past?

Re: Gilmour Knighted?

Just what does a CBE get to do, anyway?

Order troops into battle?

Wear some cool duds to the Queen's birthday party?

Give more money to the poor?

Inquiring Yankee minds want to know...

Re: Gilmour Knighted?

They get to say "I have a CBE". English are rather pompous bastards like that...it's all about "who you are".

Sorry...that's the Irish in me voicing his opinion after some assistance from the black magic.
