The Pink Floyd, early singles

I just bought this from a used cd store. im now friends with the people who work there cause i go in every day asked for The Madcap Laughs to see if they've got it in yet. and so the guy there told me he had this CD and its The Pink Floyd Early Singles, and i've never seen it before or heard about it. So i was just wondering if its worth anything or is it special or something? i dunno, i found the picture in google pretty easily so i dunno. can anyone tell me anything? o yeah, and it was 11$ canadian, so thats 4.40 pounds for all you english folk and $6.85 for you americans.

picture of the cover...

It's Floyd, why do you need to ask if it's worth the cash to buy it? Of course it is.

Sorry, but it came with the 'Shine on' box set and without it, is sorely lacking. I'm sure that this EP was released or given away in some form or other a few years ago (?) without the box set, but it's really not rare or anything. You got a reasonable price on it. Enjoy.

I did the same thing, only I got it off eBay. It's not terribly rare, just expensive to get the whole box set when you've already got all the albums. So, you got yourself the only worthwhile part of the box set without getting a bunch of useless digipak (cardboard) versions of the albums you probably already have.

yeah, i dont have much of their stuff, but thats why i made friends with the people at that store, this way they save me pink floyd stuff and tell me when they get new stuff in. all for the benefit of getting The Madcap Laughs.

Re: The Pink Floyd, early singles

No, it's never been released nor given away in other form than the Shine On Box Set. Fixxy is actually thinking (I guess) about "The First 3 Singles" EP which is a *mono* mix and has been released with The Piper 30th Edition in 1997. It also has obviously only 6 songs on it.
I also have bought The Early Singles separately from the box set and I think it's excellent, really deserving a release on its own IMO.

The mono mixes are actually quite rare. Note that the mono mix of 'Paintbox' is quite different from the stereo one. So the 'First Three Singles' is worth quite a bit to purists.

Uh... the Early Singles disc with the "Shine On" box set also contains the mono mixes.

Re: The Pink Floyd, early singles

Yeah, I bought this cheap looking Zeppelin CD once because it was 5 dollars. It was part of one of their box sets. I plan on giving it back to the store, I don't want that thing taking up space in my tower.
