We sometimes have that here at Cheese Towers, usually when I annoy the bread-knife when she's in the kitchen.

Re: Tired of Floyd?

Truthfully, the problem is when you hear Floyd for the first time, all of a sudden you are reaching for all their stuff and listening to it nonstop. I rarely listen to Floyd anymore.

Re: Tired of Floyd?

Yes, they really are almost like a lifestyle for a period of time, and then that lifestyle begins to bore once you've seen all there is to see.

Thankfully, I still don't own Saucerful of Secrets, so I still have a little bit left to discover.

Re: Tired of Floyd?

Yeah, another important thing is to have plenty of other music to listen to. Generally, I try not to listen to more than one album by the same artist in the same day, to try and avoid overfamiliarity.

Re: Tired of Floyd?

Occaisionally I get tired of it, so I'll listen to some Zeppelin, or Tull for a month, then return to the audio glory that is Floyd

Burned out, on Floyd. No way. Sure, certain records get a little repetitive, but never have I gotten burned out or tired of the Floyd machine. That is all I listen to anymore. I like to keep a good cycle of the albums going, ya know---I'll be listening to 'Piper at the Gates' on Monday, and hopefully by Sunday I will have moved on to something like 'Meddle'

I tend to listen to Floyd by era, rarely do I go from their early stuff right into their latter stuff. Instead, I'll stay with the late 60's era for a few days, and then I'll move on. This keeps me regular and very healthy.

Re: Tired of Floyd?

Sort of. I sort of grew up with Pink Floyd and as such never went on the usual binge people do when they first get into them. I have heard most of the songs a lot, but I'm not really tired of them. I listen to most of my music from my computer or from mixed CDs nowadays; I'll often just add whatever song is in my head at the time to a playlist along with the other stuff. I rarely listen to albums from beginning to end. The closest I come is when I want to make a bad mood worse I'll sometimes pop in The Wall: The Movie. Great stuff, plus it comes with that magnificent song that ISN'T ON THE CD. Why, Pink Floyd, why?

Re: Tired of Floyd?

I agree with what's been said. When I first got really into floyd, they were just about all that I listened too. Nowadays I go into phases where I listen to them for awhile, and then I move on to something else. Since collecting all of the Floyd albums and running them into the ground, I've built large collections of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Elvis, and I sometimes go into phases of listening to them.. and sometimes listening to other stuff which I have plenty of.

I also have phases where I don't even listen to my CD's, preferring to surf around the radio stations instead...
