What's going on, Charade? Have I broken some kind of board rule?

Hm. What's the title of the song again?

"Trained not to spit in the fan..."

You know, I've always had problems getting that line correct while I'm singing...about two different prepositions come to mind that aren't very nice. Think Montreal...

Re: Dogs

I guess Roger didn't change much for the You've gotta be crazy lyrics...
Who was born in a house full of pain.
who was trained not to spit in the fan
who was told what to do by the man
who was broken by trained personel
who was fitted with bridle and bit(?)
"Collar and chain"
who was forcing his way to the rail
"gotta get to work"?
who was offered a seat on the bus
"some have tried to be generous but maybe to no avail"?
who was only a stranger at home
who was ground down in the end
who was found dead on the phone
who was dragged down by the stone.

Re: Dogs

Good job Alb! You must have a version of the early 1975??? pre-studio version of "Dogs". Do you have "Dogs and Sheep-1975" live album? I love listening to how they change their music before they go in to a studio. Back when they used to give the fans a taste of some new material still in the works. Rock on!

Re: Dogs

Actually, I'm listening to "Dogs and Sheep" right now. All this talk about "Dogs" gave me the urge to bust out the old "You Gotta Be Crazy". Wouldn't it be so nice if the boys would release a box set of their greatest shows from 1967-1994? I'd gladly put away all of my boots for something "official". But...

Re: Dogs

now that would be a worthy investment. yes i have 'dogs and sheep' along with some others. 75-77 are definitely the best shows IMHO.

Re: Dogs

Actually, I read somewhere that Roger was simply trying to emmulate Allen Ginsberg's "Howl" poem with the "Who was . . ." but that's only speculation. I agree that Floyd should issue an album of live recordings from the 73-75 shows with the "You've Gotta Be Crazy" and "Raving and Drooling" versions of "Dogs" and "Sheep."
