"Just an earthbound misfit" just means he's stuck on the ground... he wants to "fly" either literally or otherwise, but he can't... therefore "earthbound" (bound to the earth) the watering eye doesn't even necessarily mean crying.... if you're drving into the wind, or on a motorcycle, plane..... anything with wind blowing intensely into your face, your eyes water. That was the first impression i got from the line.... "out of the corner" could either be like a tear, which usually comes from a corner of your eye.... or maybe he's glancing out of the side of his eye. **shrug** |

As noted, this video was created by someone who applied their own interpretation to it. The song lyrics have no connection to the video storyline. I too heard Dave say the song was inspired by he and Nick's flying lessons which they took together. In fact, the dialog in the middle of the song is apparently the actual recording of Nick's solo preflight talk with the control tower. I like Fulger's theory. I admit that had not occured to me before. Last edited by stratman; 06-20-2004 at 12:12 AM. |

| You know, I believe that Storm Thorgesson was the director for that video, but not 100% positive on that. |

| We are almost getting the entire song litteral meaning here. That makes me feel happy, because I was in complete darkness with Dave's metaphors. Two words are still a mystery for me in the song. misfit... what about it? Earthbound misfit? Bound to the earth and not in the correct way? "Unheeded warnings, I thought , I thought about everything" Whats the metaphor on this sentence? He didn't read the correct warnings and thought about the emergency he was having, so he said that he thought about everything? "Grubby halo" ... any idea guys? and the most complicated one : "Could blow this sould right throught the roof of the night"... I need the litteral and metaphor meanings... With these ones I think I will get the entire meaning. About the ribbon in black, stretched to the point of no turning back... I have a point of view here and I would like you to comment about it. It is related to the movie clip. In the beginning of the clip, there is an aircraft coming in the horizon, a single engine one, black. That could be the ribbon in black, approaching and getting stretched untill the point that there is no way to turn back ... the guy on the windswept field is watching it coming, there is no turning back... what do you think? Thanks about the information about the indian shamen... getting points straight here. |
