Re: Your First Guitar Solo

The first one I learned would have to be the Mother solo.

But I am more of a rythm guitarist, plus I learned it 2/3 years into guitar, so it came easy :P.

Re: Your First Guitar Solo

My first solo was "Time." I learned it after I had been playing guitar for about a week. I didn't even use tabs. I just sat down and learned it peace-by-peace. It really got felt good when I mastered it.

I can't really remember which was first, but either Rebel Rouser or 40 Miles Of Bad Road by Duane Eddy.

Re: Your First Guitar Solo

wish you were here and money on the same week. WYWH was rather easy to learn. Money was another thing, I'm not really good with solos, let me tell you that I was quite happy with myself when I played it all the way without error for the first time

My first solo was "Sweet Child of Mine"... next, I learned "Stairway to Heaven" and "Comfortably Numb"... Now working on practicing "Dogs" up to stage-worthy so I can perform it with my band!

Re: Your First Guitar Solo

I've only been playing since christmas 04 but lately I've been trying out some solos and found its easy to play along with the song then, later I remember it... I learned Bohemian Rhapsody (oh God is that sweet or what), Burnin For You, Whole Lotta Love ....umhh... ya i've been trying PF stuff but i can't seem to get it down just by ear since my guitar sounds absolutely nothing like DG's... but i'm working on it.... for the Shine on solos.. do you mean the part after Wish you were here? the faster part, or like everything else... cause the whole thing kinda seems like a solo to me...

Re: Your First Guitar Solo

I was listening to The Green Pajamas song "Seven Fathoms Down and Falling" and mindlessly started playing along and voila, it all came together.

Re: Your First Guitar Solo

Technically the first solo I ever learned was "Smells like teen spirit" but the first solo that i learned that was really worth mentioning, was "Hey Joe" - Hendrix........not bad for a 11 y/o at the time

My fav solos to play are probably "comfortably numb" and the entire song of "voodoo Chile" which is pretty much a giant solo in itself.

Re: Your First Guitar Solo

I was 12 or 13 and I played along with my Beatles '65 tape until I learned all the chords and the solos. I rock! yay!

By the way, Beatles '65 is the American Equivalent of Beatles For Sale, minus a few songs, plus a single or two.

oh yeah; a year or two after that, I learned Van Halen's "Eruption" in a ham fisted sort of way and became the zaniest kid in my school!
