Phil Collins

Is there any particular reason Roger hates Phil Collins?

And don't say anything mean!! I get enough flack for being a Collins fan!

Re: Phil Collins

It's because Roger, along with the entire planet, was duped into believing that Phil Collins was cool for a brief microsecond around the time of 'In The Air Tonight'

Re: Phil Collins

Collins went from a member of Genesis as a progressive-rock band to a member of Genesis as a pop band to a solo artist who wrote such classics as "Easy Lover" and "Two Hearts".

Bland, mainstream and tedious.

At least Roger didn't go all "pop" when he went solo.

Re: Phil Collins

It could be for the same reason I dislike the man so: he completely ruined a terrific band!! I think larry said it best.

Re: Phil Collins

So it's purely from a music sense? Phil didn't, like, attack Roger with a pogo stick?

That would have been much more interesting...

lol... How is it that EVERYONE has heard about that? That's the one thing everyone thinks of when they hear his name... That and Sussudio... I do admit that song can be rather annoying... But Take Me Home owns I prefer the Genesis stuff though... He never should have left (*pokes and says, "You bastard!" with a funny British accent*) But hell, the man wrote me a handwritten letter, I refuse to talk shit...

Re: Phil Collins

What did it say? 'You're dumped' or 'You can't hurry love?'

*laughs* According to what I read, it involved the line "You are slowly making me hate you." (Which is, I suppose, better than "You are quickly making me hate you.")

Re: Phil Collins

I'd heard it was printed on the front page of the Sun... But I can't seem to find a copy. Here's what Collins says about it:

"Lots of stories have been amalgamated into that piece of folklore. I told her how I felt and she asked me to write it down, so I did and sent it to her by fax, which is basically a letter you put in a machine instead of an j envelope. It wasn't, `You're out of here.' A few months later I was touring in Germany, trying to workout access to Lily. Jill was angry and kept putting the phone down so I wrote her another fax, which was printed on the front page of The Sun the next day. It was misread as the first time I'd told her we were splitting up. It became a snowball I couldn't control, based on an untruth. I'm still lumbered with it. During that time I didn't even want to be me any more, or at least the person they wrote about. They categorise you, and every time you try to lift your head out of the box, they bash the lid down again."

Re: Phil Collins

He's still a twat, I mean have you heard any of his "music" lately. It's complete and utter bilge. Obviously his earlier stuff was bilge too but now it's complete and utter bilge. Podgy little bastard.
