Speaking of "old" :

What is a Grandparent?
(Answers from 8 year olds doing a class project)

Grandparents are a man and lady who don't have any little children of their own so they like other people's little children.

Grandparents don't have anything to do except be there when we come to see them. They are old so they can't run and play hard. They are nice they take us to the store and give us money.

When they take us for walks they slow down when we pass pretty leaves and caterpillers.

They show us the cracks talk about pretty flowers and tell us why we shouldn't step on the cracks.

They don't tell us to hurry up.

Most Grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear. They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like why God isn't married and why dogs chase cats.

When they read to us they don't skip pages, they don't mind reading the same story over and over.

Everybody should try to have a Grandmother especially if you don't have a TV they are the only grown ups that like to spend time with you.

They know we should have snacks before dinner and before bedtime they say prayers with us and they kiss us even if we have been bad.

Grandmothers live at the airport. You go there to pick her up when you want her to visit then we just go get her and when we are done with her visit we take her back home to the airport.

Grandpa is the smartest man in the world he teaches me alot of stuff but I will never get to see him enough to get as smart as he is.

28 .. will be 29 this autumn.

I'll be a ripe old 24 in October. Getting harder to think back to five years ago, now!
