I'd say what was left of "psychedelic rock" was completely gone by Wish You Were Here. Sure, Dark Side had a twinge of psychedelia, but not the same kind as the cheerful insanity of Syd Barrett. And Dark Side is a cocktail of different styles, anyway. Jazz, prog-rock, psychedelic, funk, metal, the list could go on. Wish You Were Here wouldn't qualify as psychedelic to me. It's just.....Floyd.

Yeah, doctor how said it best. There really wasn't much psychedellia coming out after DSotM. I think after Syd left they became more of a progressive band anyways...

Ok true Doctor how but in SOYCD and DSotM there was a partial quasi steller feeling right? I mean it felt kinda space like to me. But in Animals it's just kinda rock.

Yeah, all of Floyd's "psychedelic" side seemed to have left them at DSotM. But that's okay, because they went on to something new. They couldn't be stuck in the 60's I guess...

They'd be the greatest band going if the 80's hadn't happened, mind. ps- yes, hilarious

I sometimes get a Stella feeling, but that's a different story. Last edited by Dr Cheese; 06-29-2004 at 11:03 AM.

Meddle isn't very psychedelic, except for the last section of Echoes and the middle bit of One Of These Days. Spaciness does not equal psychedelic.

As far as 'Animals' goes, this is a transitional point in Floyd's music. We begin to see a more mature Floyd, or at least a more mature Roger Waters. |

Hell, the psychedelia had left them by Meddle.
