Through the fish eyed lens of tear stained eyes

I can barely define the shape of this moment in time

And far from flying high in clear blue skies

I'm spiralling down to the hole in the ground where i hide.

Wow, how my opinion has changed since last time

These particular lyrics from The Final Cut are lyrics I related to when I first heard them. It's a nice summing up of oppression, paranoia, withdrawn-ness and communication barrier city there!

"Through the fish-eyed lens of tear-stained eyes
I can barely define the shape of this moment in time
Far from flying high in clear blue skies
I'm spiraling down to the hole in the ground where I hide

If you'd negotiate the mindfield in the drive
And beat the dogs and cheat the cold electronic eyes
and if you make it past the shotguns in the hall
dial the combination, open the preisthole, and if I'm in I'll tell you what's behind the wall
*skip*
And if I show my dark side, will you still hold me tonight?
And if I open my heart to you, and show you my weak side, what would you do?"

"Thought I ought to bare my naked feelings
Thought I ought to tear the curtain down
I held the blade in trembling hands
prepared to make it but just then the phone rang
I never had the nerve to make the final cut"

Yeah, do I need to say anything, really?

how about this: pretty much all of the last two Flaming Lips albums?
"Do You Realize??", "What is the Light?", "All We Have is Now", "Feeling Yourself Disintigrate", "Slow Motion"...
Those ones in particular.

And you run and run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

They mean more to me the older I get...go figure.

I know she said it's alright
But you can make it up next time
I know she knows it's not right
There ain't no use in lying
Maybe she thinks I know something
Maybe maybe she thinks its fine
Maybe she knows something I don't
I'm so, I'm so tired, I'm so tired of trying

It seems to me that maybe
It pretty much always means no
So don't tell me you might just let it go
And often times we're lazy
It seems to stand in my way
Cause no one no not no one
Likes to be let down

I know she loves the sunrise
No longer sees it with her sleeping eyes
And I know that when she said she's gonna try
Well it might not work because of other ties and
I know she usually has some other ties
And I wouldn't want to break 'em, nah, I wouldn't want to break 'em
Maybe she'll help me to untie this but
Until then well, I'm gonna have to lie to you.
-Jack Johnson

most of pink floyds lyrics have a deep meaning to me, and i find that i can relate to most of it. right now, id say sorrow has the most meaning to me... you can tell that my life sucks when i understand everything that that song is about.

cloudless every day you fall upon my waking eyes
inviting and inciting me to rise
and through the window in the wall
come streaming in on sunlight wings
a million bright ambassadors of morning

and no-one sings me lullabies
and no-one makes me close my eyes
and so i throw the windows wide
and call to you across the sky

from 'Echoes'... and also all of 'Time'. i can't choose between the two. both of them speak volumes to me..
